Read aloud (with David Cochran Heath) doesn't work.
On both of my laptops (Windows 10 Home and Pro) 'Read aloud' doesn't work anymore. There is a bit of consistency in this :-) Recently there were some updates of Windows and Logos. As far as I know it worked perfectly before, but now David Cochran Heath has been silenced.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem or malfunction?
Thanks in advance!

Thanks Lynden.
The Windows 'System Narrator' does work but her voice is not appealing to listen to. I would like to hear David. It worked before and as far as I know nothing changed. Only a major Windows update and some minor Logos updates.
Hope someone knows how to solve this. Probably windows causes this malfunction...

It is not working for me either. The David Heath voice is finicky sometimes... and it is a "streaming only" voice, so you must be connected to internet. Since it isn't working for me either, there may be some sort of issue on FL's side.

Martin, please close Logos and then use these instructions to make sure that Logos is fully up to date. These instructions are usually used to install Logos, but work just fine for getting it up to date as well.
I did follow the instructions but Logos was and is still up to date.
I will check tomorrow and hope there will be a solution. It's already getting dark here in The Netherlands.
Anyway I love using Logos 8. I always used Wordsearch but since that application is being transitioned to Logos my library will probably explode because of all the coming content.
Thanks anyway for all your help and suggestions.

No luck for me either.

Just for the record. After last night I decided to reinstall Logos 8 today. What a blessing. Logos made it real easy, without downloading all the content I don't use at all.
But, there always is a BUT. Read Aloud does not work even after a reinstall of Logos 8. So I did everything I could do for thus far. There must be a conflict somewhere...

A reinstall of the software engine only is seldom the right fix, and a full reinstall is often overkill. If there is a "bug," a reinstall will just reinstall the bug. If something has become corrupted in the data files, they are left in place (so a reinstall of the engine is worthless).
FWIW - My "full install" installation works. Its only my "skinny install" which is broken. Don't know if that is related or not.

This may have 'limited application,' but I hope it may help someone. For those of us using cell phones with data caps for internet, being able to download (once) to the device would be very helpful, and not dependent on "being connected."
Because of this I downloaded ESV (https://download.cnet.com/Audio-Bible-ESV/3000-20414_4-77607416.html) and when 'not connected' I am still able to play audio (on what used to be 'iTunes'). I may have to manually synchronize audio to Logos if I wish to, but hopefully this is just a 'temp' workaround.
Unrelated: I have an 'old iPhone' with ESV loaded at my night stand, and I listen to ESV while I go to sleep. Sometimes it may be hours, and MANY chapters later, before I awake to turn it off. This may help those with overly-active-pillow-time-random-thoughts to focus on Him, and the Word, rather than carnal thoughts. No offense intended. YMMV
Tremendous Blessings.. and Shalom
Falling asleep with the Word of God is just excellent. I also listen to the Word of Promise Bible (dramatized). It is in the NKJV but I like the ESV more. It's a more 'clear' translation.
In the beginning of this year I started to learn Greek. I was just fed up with all the translations issues. Now I'm reading John in Greek, the way it is meant by the original writer. It's like John's Gospel has come to life in a new and fresh way.
Thanks for your response :-)
A bit off topic: if you are interested in learning Biblical Greek, 'Greek For Everyone' is an excellent start. It's free of charge and a lot of fun also. I'm not the smartest guy in the world at all, but I found it doable. You don't need to be smart; you need to be persistent...
