multi-volume commentaries

In one of the WSB newbies introduction training videos MP instructed us not to prioritize multi-volume commentaries and I realized after having done so, that at least one of the reasons for that is that when you use the arrow keys to flip through the commentaries it will stop you if you get to one that doesn't include anything on your current search. However, I want to utilize my multi-volume commentaries more than other one-volume commentaries. I wonder what the best way to do that is, since prioritizing them doesn't seem to be the best option.....and searching them isn't going to work, apparently......Can someone guide me through some steps about this......or is there a video that deals with multi-volume commentary use?

Morris recommends your first priority be a one-volume commentary that covers the entire Bible. Then, after that you can prioritize your sets. Doing the one volume commentary first keeps it from stopping if it doesn't find a reference. Also, if you have a series, then you only have to drag one to the prioritize pane, and it will prioritize the entire series. Try that and see if it works for you.

Thank you, Carla. That is helpful. I didn't know what to do with my multi-volume commentaries that I want to use. I thought I had to drag them all into the priority list. This is very helpful. I did discover that when I put them in the first five that stops the cycle with the arrows if they don't have an entry for the verse I am studying, so I wasn't sure what I needed to do. I surely do appreciate your help here!!!

Screen shot shows some of my library prioritization: highest prioritized Bibles with two multi-volume commentary series

Above my highest prioritized Bible, Complete Jewish Bible (CJB), are a number of advanced Bible prioritizations. Left side of screen shot shows a footnote in Christian Standard Bible (CSB) with verse pop-up showing CSB text instead of CJB (due to CSB advanced prioritization).

My second highest resource with Bible indexing is 1873 AV, which has Protestant Bible Books plus Deuterocanonical (Apocrypha) Books.

Next highest set of resources with Bible indexing is my initial "go-to" commentary series => UBS Handbook Series Old & New Testament Collection (55 vols.) and UBS Handbook Series Upgrade (6 vols.) using advanced prioritizations for Bible data types. GNT is Greek New Testament.

Next highest set of resources with Bible indexing is my custom Top 2 series of commentaries (started with https://www.bestcommentaries.com/topcommentaries followed by adding some more). Prioritizing Commentary Series in the Top 5 resources with Bible Indexing allows Right Click => Reference => Look up (as a quick way to preview/open preferred commentary from a Bible verse)

Clicking on abbreviated title in Look up causes resource to open in a new tab for Bible Reference. Apologies for not being able to replicate left and right arrow stoppage using this method to open multi-volume commentary sets. For example, UBS Handbooks do not have Ezekiel so UBS does not appear in Right Click Look up and arrow key changing parallel resources skips over UBS using Logos 8.17 Beta 2 on Windows 10 Pro 2004.

That would restrict your #1 commentary unnecessarily, and it doesn't matter in a Passage Guide which can list as many commentaries as you like (in order of prioritization). But it is a good idea to prioritize your favorite one-volume commentary somewhere in the top 5 or 10 as many multi-volume commentaries don't have all the books of the bible. It's more important to prioritize your bibles before any commentaries, as a lookup on a linked passage (e.g. a single-click) could open/display a commentary!
