The Martyrs Mirror
A history of Martyrs from Christ to about 1600.
As a Mennonite I can tell you without reservation that "The Martyrs Mirror" is found in nearly every annabaptist house. In Amish, Brethern and Mennonite Homes it will usually be located with the family bible. Most of the Amish hymns are taken directly from the pages of this book. The woodcarving images are world renown.
I enjoy this book much more than Fox's Book of Martyrs. Unfortunitly, most Christians have never seen this remarkable book. Given the Retail Price of about $40 of much less, this is surprising.
I would also suggest the Hutterian "Big Book" which is a history from the Morivan anabaptist of martyrs from Christ to Present. This book is still being updated by the Hutterites.
I find a lack of annabaptist books, such as Menno Simons, Dirk Phillips and other of my faith in the LOGOS collection.

I don't know why I didn't realize their was a difference. I have a dead-wood version of Martyrs Mirror (Author--Thieleman J. van Braght). My cousin was a Mennonite and when he died I inherited lots of books. Thanks for the antedote regarding tradition. I, myself, am Southern Baptist. I had some book published in the early 1900's that stated the Mennonite doctrines or beliefs, maybe 300+pgs. I gave it away and wish I still had it. The book was hardback and blue. I cannot remember name or author.

I certainly agree! Herald Press has that wonderful Classics of the Radical Reformation series. Now THAT would be a collection I would purchase in a heartbeat!

I believe the book you are referring to is "Doctrins of the Bible" Daniel Kauffman - Herald Press.

This book is very popular in the Mennonite Faith and is often given as a Wedding Present to Newlyweds. It is ver close to bein Doctrinal in the Anabaptist tradition.
Amoung the Old Order Amish they use a small book called "1001 Questions and Answers on the Christian Life" Pathway Publishing. This book is more of a Catechism-style questions and answers on a wide variety of Amish beliefs. This is kinda rigid in form due to the Old Order Society, many of whom have lost their Salvation by Faith Doctrin due to the Church laws.
However Their is no true "Doctrins" book for the anabaptist groups. They rely mainly on the Confessions of Faith.

Herold Press and Pathway Publishers both have some very interesting book..
I also enjoy David Bercoit's collection of works at SCROLL Publishing, expecially "Dictionary of Early Christian Beliefs" Which NO Library should be without!

I would like very much to have that book also. As an addition to the "Pilgrim Church" I suggested earlier already under the Historical Collection.

I enjoy the Foxe's Book of Martyrs, but have never heard of The Martyrs Mirror". This sounds like a great addition to Logos.

I did not grow up in the Mennonite tradition but it has been my adopted fellowship since 1997 and I've become familiar with Martyr's Mirror through it. It would be a wonderful resource to have in Logos -- but not just the text; it must retain the stupendous woodcuts!

It would be very beneficial for Logos to produce Martyrs Mirror. It records important events in the Believers Church historical stream.

I would also love to see this books added:)... I have read it from cover to cover and it is an amzing book.. I live close to many mennonites here in South Carolina... My neighbors are Mennonites... Foxes Book of Martyrs doesnt even compare to this book!

I would like to see Martyrs' Mirror in Logos also - it is a very important work (along with Foxe's). Ditto for the mention of Bercot's Dictionary of Early Christian Beliefs. My hard copy of MM was loaned out over a decade ago, and never returned
