WS to Logos question

In WS we had what is called "My Documents" whereby we could start a document and then as we continued to study about that subject we could add to the document or delete from it as we willed. I have many such documents in WS.

Where could I do such in Logos? I tried Personal Books but when it's built...it's none editable. I tried Sermons but the documents doesn't fit as Sermons has a particular purpose... So what am I missing?

I think they will come over at one point in time - and you probably want to use the type of document Logos will have them in (probably Notes?). How large and how many are your WS "documents"?

Personal Books are more like "real books" as opposed to ongoing study remarks. Some people use them as such, e.g. writing their own commentary or sermon series. The point is that they use Word (or a free alternative like Open Office) as their text processor. You could easily document your study in one or many Word documents and have Logos rebuild the PB after every step of your study.

Coming back to the size: If you say 300 documents, each a page or two long, this sounds linke Notes. If you say five documents, each 200 pages long, I'd suggest the PB

I say that I have about 75-100 documents... and ... I am already in process of moving of my notes to Logos (deleted them in WS so as not to duplicate in Logos)... and I'm guessing I will have aprox. 400 notes... when I've completed that. So maybe a total of aprox 500 notes...

One of the problems of putting all the documents in Notes is that Notes will be very crowded... and is very lacking on the ability to sort. They need to be able to sort on Tags... which would help... or even a Search which would search the Notes Tags... oh yeah! [8-|]

I was hoping to have a Docs file in Logos such that it would be a "kind of" internal word processor like WS has. That was sure handy in WS...

Works for me. Have an ongoing group study and am using a PB with the study notes. Add each week's comments to the study after class and my pre-week's study work before class. Rebuild the PB just before class each week. There might be better ways but it works for me. [and a layout to use during study]

One factor to consider is whether you will need access to your documents on the go or not. Logos Notes are accessible from the Mobile and Web apps, Personal Books are not.

Works for me. Have an ongoing group study and am using a PB with the study notes. Add each week's comments to the study after class and my pre-week's study work before class. Thanks. I understand the process you describe.... it's clunky I think as I have to maintain 2 sets of files on my computer, one for word and one for the PB Logos file. By being able to edit the PB file... then the process is simple.... one file only. A better way would be the ability to edit the PB file and then re-build it. But then again.... I am a simple thinking man... [8-|]

But then consider other changes one wants in Logos. Does this really merit a rather massive effort at the cost of the other changes? Especially when for the intended purpose of personal books the Word version is usually the master copy which must be up to date? Just saying pay attention to the trade offs.

Why can't you do this? I've compiled sermons into PB that I later found typos. I keep all my PB docs in one folder and have edited docs then recompiled them.

Open the PB File, delete the body file by right-click, then add file (after it has been edited).

Actually you don't even have to do that. If you keep the title, just save in Word / LibreOffice / Whatever (and - maybe - close the textprocessor) and build in the PB-Tool. It will always run from the current version of the file in the path you choose to build from, so no need to delete and re-add the same file.
