Morphological search results problem in the Qumran Sectarian Manuscripts. Any ideas?

I am trying to run a search of the verbs in seven manuscripts in the Qumran Sectarian Manuscripts. The manuscripts are 11Q19, and 4Q394-399. The problem is, Logos only allows me to run a verb search for all of the Qumran Sectarian Manuscripts, not just the individual ones that I need (see screenshot below, where I am trying to select just 11Q19 under "All Passages," but it brings up "No matches"). This would be fine to search all of the manuscripts and just take the ones that I need, except for the fact that Logos caps off the search results at 10,000. As a result, since 11Q19 and 4Q394-399 are located far back in the Qumran Sectarian Manuscripts, I cannot see the results for the verbs in these manuscripts because they are found beyond the first 10,000 results.

Does anyone have any ideas on what I could do?

Have you tried building the morph code in the morph search then switching to a basic search (which changes the format of the morph code) so you can select the individual manuscripts?

Easiest is going to your sectarian 'start' and doing an inline on the morph-code. Then repeat for the next one. Troublesome but gets the job done.

You are trying to use the universal input/omnibox/go box/command line rather than setting the scope of the search. In the Search Panel where it says "In Qumran Sectarian..." change that to the manuscripts you want.

Right-click text at the start of a desired fragment .... highlight morph line ..... select search this resource (inline). Then after it starts searching, edit the morph search term. Painful, but doable.

Hi MJ, that is the problem. Where it says "In Qumran Sectarian Manuscripts," I am not given the option to change it to the individual manuscript that I want. It makes me search the entire collection, which is huge.

I think the selectable fragments are only Biblical; not sectarian?

Hi Denise, sorry to be a bother. After I right-click and highlight line, I am not sure if I have "highlight[ed] the morph line" as you say. Also, I do not see the option to exactly "search this resource (inline)." I can click the "inline" box, but I do not know what to do after that.

I see. So basically I have to go through every single word then, and then copy/write down the morph info for the verbs when I stumble on them. Is that what you're saying?

No ... you're setting up an example search-forward (since you can't search by fragment). After you start your example search, go up to the morph-search text-block, and edit it for the types of grammar you're after ... I think you're looking at verbs.

Probably Dave is eating tomorrow's breakfast (Australia) ... chances are he can be considerably more helpful (my Logos is offline, and I'm vacuming our house ... ha). Please keep asking questions ... others learn too.

I think we're struggling a little, since I'm not online, and older Logos. The steps below are just for completeness:

1. With your Abegg open, navigate to the first fragment you wanted, using the TOC (you did this).

2. Either on the first hebrew word (or even better, first verb ... your goal), right-click it

- On the left column, choose the morph-selection

- On the right, choose Search: this resource (inline)

3. This will start a search for that specific morph (not desired; just setting up the inline display example).

- Interrupt it (clear syntax box near top, after you see their search text formatting (the example)

- Edit the example morph-value to the desired search, and press enter.

4. It's not a good solution, since you repeat steps 1-3 for each fragment (or series of fragments).

Dave will likely have a better way, if you want to wait a little.

Maybe we're getting closer. I followed all of your steps, and ran the @v search from the line that I chose to start from (1QT19 25;1). Strangely, though, this is what the results looks like (see screenshot). Only the word that I chose to start the morph search with is highlighted, and nothing in the following lines is highlighted.

On another note, even if all the verbs were rightfully highlighted, I am unsure how to export them all into an Excel file. Not seeing that option.

Hmmm ... I tried it, just pulling verbs. Then I clicked on the 'Send To' button (top-right) and chose passage list (which exports to Excel). But ... it looks like it's back to a full resource search ... sigh. Depending on how many you find, it's possible to simply copy what's in view (highlight and control c) ... not fun.
