How to do a study on levels of sin

Hi, a member of my congregation is hotly contesting the topic of different levels of sin (aka some sins are greater than others). And so, I want to use Logos to dig into the topic but because its a little bit nebulous, I can't just enter 'sin' in the factbook. Any suggestions on how to run this type of query? Thanks in advance for all answers.

I'm kind of working backwards. I know of 3 specific texts that contribute to this idea and I am trying to create Logos queries that will include these texts.
search BIBLE for "light beating" - verse before includes "severe beating" - varied punishment depending upon awareness
search BASIC for "every other sin" - list sexual immorality as distinct from others
search BIBLE for "stricter" - false teaching deserves more severe punishment.

Thanks Graham, I was trying for too much complexity but sometimes the best path forward is simple queries. Great help as always!

You might find some interesting reading if you open a Passage Study Layout to 1 John 5:16-17.

Some of the things I've pointed to above may give you useful terminology for additional queries.

The Basic Search "(level, degree) of sin" finds some interesting results.
Refining (look for curse OR sin articles/chapters) & expanding search (cycle, generational, worse):
Looking at search results found some more topical words (intentional, unintentional, greater, smaller) to expand article/chapter search:

This isn't a query, but the Westminster Larger Catechism addresses the topic in questions #150 and #151. It affirms that while every sin deserves God's wrath and curse (question #152) there are degrees of "heinousness." Whatever your position is, the proof texts listed might be a good place to look.
