Hi!Sometimes I'm reading a classic commentary and some old english word comes up. Is there somehow a way to link Merriam-Webster's Dictionary to search and call it from inside a commentary using the right button menu? Thanks
Greetings Rafael, and welcome to the forums. This is the place to find answers to how to use the Logos Software.
Is there somehow a way to link Merriam-Webster's Dictionary
If you own Merriam-Webster's Dictionary in Logos and it is downloaded and indexed then is should show up here...
and here
You can also double click on the word in your commentary and it will attempt to open that word in your highest prioritized English dictionary. You can add the Merriam-Webster Dictionary to your priority list in your Library panel to ensure that it's preferred over other English dictionaries you might own.
Thanks! I bought it. I tried this but my M-W is not showing. Only Wikipedia and Power lookup. How do I verify this setup in the priority list?
What word are you right clicking on? The most likely reason it isn't finding a resource anywhere is that the text has an inflected form of the word, and the dictionary only contains uninflected forms.
This happened with me for "vouchsafed". I needed to search for "vouchsafe".
Got it! Thanks!
You need "Collins English Dictionary" which has the added advantage of being written in English.
Ahem. The only dictionary written in "English" is OED. [:O][:D]
