Are there limits in the number of Layouts or resources in a Layout for IPad?

I am trying to use Layouts on my IPad to build some reading rooms. I want to put about 10 books in each of two layouts. I am getting very strange results. When I start the second layout it seems to be full of the books from the first layout. If I give up and just try to add more books to the first layout the new books disappear. Very frustrating.
