Library lag and random highlights

I have a PC (Dell; 8th Gen i7; 32gbb RAM; SSD). When I access the library icon at the top of the screen, I experience a typing lag when entering text in the 'Find Resources' box. Not so, if I access the library via control L or pull the library icon into a set window pane.

A second problem: the word 'the' is highlighted in all my resources, although I have not added a visual filter or highlight to the word.

Is it possible you have searched for something containing "the" and still have the search window open?

The lag is reproducable and likely(?) associated with the net; turning off the net reduces the lag; turning it on increases the lag. Not so when the library else-wise opened.
