Where can I get a resource on the Down-grade controversy?
mm.
something beyond this, I presume ... I'd never heard of it. The Spurgeon Library | What Was the Downgrade Controversy Actually All About?
Thanks. I have the Sword and Trowel mags that FL offers, but they don't include the Controversy.
You wouldn't happen to know of a resource that covers it from A-Z?
Any thoughts on this? Down Grade Controversy | Logos Bible Software
No, I don't - Reformed Theology is an area I generally bypass being an ACELO interest type. (ACELO=Anglican, Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Lutheran, Oriental Orthodox)

I had never heard of this before as I'm not exactly a Spurgeon scholar. However, just looking briefly, this would fall under the category of what is known as the "fundamentalist-modernist controversy." You could search for that if you were looking for more general information on it not necessarily related to Spurgeon.

Down Grade Controversy | Logos Bible Software As I recall, there were four areas Spurgeon was addressing. Denial of inerancy as defined in his day, denied the need for substitutionary atonement, denied the nature/duration of hell, and embraced universalism. Its going back a few years... If posting some of any of the following would possibly lead towards a purchase, let me know and I'll post what I can. Also, I saw this - https://archive.spurgeon.org/misc/dwngrd.phpMight be of help.
In addition to these mentioned, you might also look at Lewis Drummond's biography of Spurgeon - Spurgeon: Prince of Preachers. It is incredible work with much treatment of the downgrade. Dr. Drummond actually lived in London for two years and taught at Spurgeon's College.
I spent some time in london, and lived with a professor (and his family) that taught at Spurgeon college back in 2009.
The church I attended while living there had a cornerstone with Spurgeon's name on it. It was fascinating.Glad I could help MIlkman
Thanks. Too bad the book wasn't a Logos resources.
