Interesting Words - Passage Guide

After reading the help document on this feature, I learned that it makes the less frequent words bigger and the more frequent smaller. Is there any way to reverse this? I would rather the more frequent words appear larger or better yet have a way to switch between the two...

In all honesty, I haven't used the feature much but after playing with it today I would prefer frequency correlate with bigger sizes.

What it's doing is comparing the frequency of the words in the selected passage with the surrounding context. The words that appear in the selected passage less frequently in the surrounding context are interesting.

For example, in John 15:1-11, "branch" and "remain/abide" are the biggest font because they don't appear frequently in the surrounding context—not at all in John 13, 14, and 16. So when you are reading through John and get to chap 15, those words stand out as interesting because they appear less in the surrounding context.

I still think I would like a Word map option though that shows the frequent words. I feel if a word is repeated enough, the author is trying to tell me something

At the moment, I just click on the word and look at all the highlighted matching words. I thought a graphical option would be neat to look at

what do you mean by word map in this context? The word map I am most familiar with is clearly not what you mean:

shows the frequent words

I'm not sure I understand. It does show the frequent words - the comparison to the surrounding text screens out words that are always frequent e.g. a, an, and, the, he, she, has, will . . .

I’m sure I’m using the term incorrectly but I went into interesting words thinking that the more frequent words would be bigger and less frequent smaller. I misunderstood the tool. What I think would be interesting is to have the tool show the more frequent words larger. Take 2 Samuel 7. I would expect the word House to be one of the larger words due to its frequency.

This is generally true but becomes less true as you chose parts of a cohesive literary unit. By this I mean that if you take the entire unit of text talking about building the temple, the wordle will be closer to a frequency chart than if you choose a single paragraph from the text talking about building the temple. This is because the entire unit uses temple construction words that are uncommon in history as a whole but common in discussing temple construction.

Probably not what you're looking for but just alerting you that the following features (all on the Passage Guide) may be worth checking out:

- Topics > choose Tags or Cloud

- Illustrations > choose Tags or Cloud

- Important Words (not to be confused with Interesting Words): not a word cloud, but I believe the list is sorted by frequency of use
