Saw a note from a friend ..
Dr. Charles Stanley, popular pastor, dies at his home (wyff4.com)
It would be nice to see a Charles Stanley sale.
I celebrate my brother's home going. May he be granted mercy.

I agree 👍😁👌
Any recommendations on a what to read by him that is in logos?
Another great man of God has passed on but has left a great legacy.
I watched Charles Stanley on TV when I was growing up. We watched him especially because his sermon broadcast was the only Christian broadcast with closed captioning. Great foresight on his part to provide that when no one else was doing so. Forever grateful!I would love a Charles Stanley sale. I would pick up those old sermons!I am perplexed and saddened when I remember Andy Stanley is his son. How did AS get so far 'out there'?

Please leave your politics and theology outside of the forum. I had not heard of either Stanley ... I had to look them both up when they were first mentioned. I don't mind people eulogizing and praising people I've never heard of -- without regard to how I would react to their theology. But I do mind people taking cracks at others under the guise of eulogizing the dead.
I've seen Charles Stanley's sermons on TV (my Ma in India watches him). I've also read his devotionals. Solid.
I once attended Andy Stanley's church in Atlanta because the hotel we were staying was a stone's throw away from the church. He is different from his father for sure. Less expository preaching, but more practical preaching. But the church was packed and overflowing with working professionals in the 20-40 age group. Not too many churches attract this age group.
We are all at different points in the spectrum of Christian maturity. We all gravitate towards different types of theology depending on where we fall on the spectrum. Probably, practical theology is needed for infant Christians and they gravitate towards Andy Stanley. Probably deep theology is needed for mature Christians and they gravitate towards Charles Stanley.
God doesn't make cookie-cutter pastors because He knows different people need different types of pastors. Paul was different from Peter and John. One size does not fit all! Thank God that He has created different pastors with different skills to preach to people with different capacity to receive theology.

True, except AS has been controversial. Not in style, but in regards to non-negotiables of the faith. It has been said He and his dad feuded over this.RIP CS!
in regards to non-negotiables of the faith
In these forums there is no consensus over what the non-negotiables are. Therefore, we do not assume them. Everyone is controversial to someone else in the forums. And most of us know we are right, [8-|] [:#]

Only by those on the outside. Not by Charles. Not by Andy.
90 years old is a good age. He saw a lot in his lifetime. Now he knows what we all will learn.... that there is a real God.
I had the honor of visiting First Baptist Atlanta and In Touch and meeting Dr. Stanley a couple of times. He lived a life of obedience to God, and I will truly miss him.
I think I have most of his books in Logos. I should see if there are any I’m missing.
