Logos 9 on Chromebook (Linux)- exhausted after reading thru the posts :)

OK can someone give me guidance/updates on what the status is on running Logos 9 desktop on a Chromebook thru Linux?

I cant stand the web app or mobile app on here and see rumblings about a work-around to run desktop versions through Linux.

Again, I have read plenty of pages of notes on the forums but I am extremely confused.

Hi Brad,

I have Logos 10 running on my Asus CX9 ChromeBook within the Linux container that is a standard feature of ChromeOS.

First question, what type of ChromeBook do you have? To properly set up Logos in Linux on your ChromeBook, you have to have an Intel or AMD processor. If you have an ARM processor, it won't work.

So, let me know the answer to that and the other key specifications of your machine. If you have a ChromeBook that will work, I would be happy to share the steps I took to set it up. It is a little technical, and some knowledge of Linux is necessary. I failed a few times before I succeeded, and with Linux you always have to be concerned with the introduction of bugs that can torpedo your setup.

I will tell you that my ChromeBook, which has an 11th generation Intel i7, 16GB of RAM and a 512GB NVMe SSD, doesn't run Logos as quickly as it does on Windows or a Mac. That's because on ChromeBooks you run Linux in a container, and using a container always comes with a performance hit because you aren't running it on bare metal. But I will also say that Logos 9 ran a little snappier than Logos 10 when I had that running.

I have the specs that would qualify running. I have one of the newer Asus Chromebooks, however only 8gb of ram. I am not so concerned about accessing "all" of my features but I just can't stand the way the web app looks and would rather run a desktop version if possible.

I was just on Telegram where it was reported that there could be data issues transferring data folders in between Logos versions. If you are going from Logos 9 to Logos 9 on your Chromebook, you may be OK. But if you were to go from Logos 9 to Logos 10, you might get an error. In that case, delete the Data and Documents folders you transferred over. When you start Logos after that it should recreate them. Then you would proceed to download your resources.
