Katz reference John Letters

In this article cited below, the author says "Katz tried to see a reference to all three letters by taking “catholic” to refer not to the church but to the “catholic epistle” of John, namely 1 John." IIRC there is no widely known Katz related to studies of canonicity nor Johannine epistles. If there is no footnote and no reference in a bibliography, you are probably not reading an academic resource. If you really need to know, try contacting the author via the website.

I'm pretty sure the reference is to Peter Katz, a scholar who died shortly after his article (cited here) was published. He apparently fled Hitler's Germany and changed his name to Peter Walters, not necessarily in that order.
