to place a command to copy highligted text on the shortcut bar?
This would correct an obvious flaw in the program.

I'm sorry, but what is the obvious flaw to which you refer? You can always use Ctrl->C to copy.
Sure. Open a resource. Select some text. Type "Copy" in the Command field. When the Command drop-down menu appears, drag the Copy command from it to the Shortcuts Bar. Voila!
HOWEVER, I do not understand what your "obvious flaw" is intended to say. Besides the fact that what you want ~can~ be done, good ol' Ctrl-C works just fine, just as Todd mentioned.
(If there is any flaw in the above, as I see it, it is that there doesn't seem to be any way of customizing the Shortcuts Bar "command icons" - the tooltips help, but, visually, a row of identical "command icons" is not overly helpful.)
I apologize for the negative tone of that remark. But I do believe copy and paste is not as simple as it was in Logos 3, or almost any program I have ever used.
The right click - copy just doesn't always work right for me. Sometimes it does. Sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes I highlight an entire verse in the NIV, and it copies one Greek word instead. Go figure. Sometimes it works perfectly. Then sometimes it copies only part of the passage.
I think copying should be the simplest thing we do. In sermon preparation I do a lot of copying and pasting of Bible verses, quotes, and clipping. It breaks my chain of thought when I highlight something, copy and paste it, and something else happens.
I have made it very clear that I love Logos and I love Logos 4 in many posts. I just think this could be better. I do think it is a flaw that there is no simple copy button for highlighted text.
Hi, Michael.
I have not noticed any difficulty in copying selected text in Logos, but - to be honest - I don't have to do that very often, so that doesn't say much - [:)] .
It certainly seems reasonable to expect that any program, when asked to ~copy~ any selected text, ought to ~copy~ the text that has been selected. (?)
STILL, ~if~ the Copy function were not working properly, then putting a button for it on the Shortcuts Bar would not fix the problem...
You need to make certain that the context menu has "Selection" and not "Manuscript" or "Lemma" selected to avoid this behavior. Logos remembers the last way you used the right click menu. The location of the Copy command is different on the left side of the right click menu depending on what is on the right side. If Selection or Manuscript is selected then it will be at the top. If Lemma, in the middle.
I have never had Logos copy something incorrectly. I've accidentally told it to copy something I didn't want, but that was my user-error. If Logos fails to copy the whole passage when Selection is selected you might have a bug report to file.
In addition to the other things said here, why not use the Copy Bible Verse module instead. It is available from any program by typing CTRL-ALT-B (unless that key combo is in use by that program).
There are a number of copy options that you can use, or create your own. Once you have it set up the way you like, this really simplifies copying Bible passages.
You're right about copying other stuff. Sometimes you can, sometimes you can't
Thank all of you for taking time to help me on this. I appreciate you thoughts and suggestions, which are good.
There should be a simple way to copy what I have currently highlighted without doing anything else - like the context menu or remembering what I selected previously.
I don't get it. I just highlight a word, passage, or paragraph, right mouse click and copy. How can it get any simpler?
