Yeah, I wouldn't want to encourage reading David Barton either. But I'll make a suggestion of an alternative book for Logos to get, and people can read them both and make up their own minds.
Getting Jefferson Right: Fact-Checking Claims About Thomas Jefferson, by Warren Throckmorton and Michael Coulter (Salem Grove Press, 2023)
Here's the suggestion I posted, to vote on:

I did not realize Barton was so out of bounds. I was told to read his works by a friend and it looks as if I do not like them.

Maybe if we wanted a leftist pseudo-history; Throckmorton is hardly a historian.

As with many other areas, there are those on both sides and that's okay. [:D]

Please review the guidelines below. I know nothing about either author nor do I have an interest in history in general. However, I know that no one in my living room would use the term "leftist pseudo-history" nor generally knock an author without being sure that no one in my living room would be insulted. If either refers to a minority position or an outdated position, there are gentler, more accurate ways to state it.
Edit: it took very little time to get sufficient information for me to determine which author I would consider to be trustworthy. The other I would read solely to get an accurate understanding of his unsupportable position. How can I be decisive so quickly? One begins with an assertion that I know to be false; the other takes controversial positions for which he must make strong arguments, but we have a common ground from which I can evaluate them. Knowing who might be in my living room supporting each side, I think a comparison of their positions won't be allowed in my living room. [8-|]

Thank you for your gentle and thoughtful reply, MJ. Proverbs 15:1.
