Not literary Type Prayer: Acts 7:59 (ESV)?

I was doing a search for Prayers in the NT and noticed Acts 7:9 was not typed as a prayer. Is this an oversite or an intentional decision? At least the Bible Knowledge Commentary categorizes this verse as a prayer. I would consider it should be tagged as a type prayer.

I see a prayer label on it. It's the label between Longace genre and Speech. What are you seeing?

No literary type is listed when selecting words in this verse. I do see it as expected for 5:60.

IIRC literary type coding is done at the verse level and will miss genre changes of less than a verse. I'll double check that.

Ok, expanding accent does show it as prayer, but as addressee and not as a literary type. Seems inconsistent to me.

We're looking at this.

Literary Type is an older analysis of ours and the literary typing associated with Acts 7:59-60 is for the pericope as a whole (7:1-60).

We've done later work that identifies these verses as a prayer (see "All the Prayers of the Bible). It looks like we missed updating this data when we completed later research on prayers.

Can you clarify your "all the prayers of the bible" link as it seems not to have worked. Is this a dataset or other tool?

In 2020, Logos developed a book and a corresponding dataset that attempted to chronicle all the prayers of the Bible. Stephen's prayer is included in this dataset but we didn't update the literary typing. I found a few other instances as well. What I'd like to do is update Literary Typing so it's consistent with the Prayer data set.

Thanks for the info. I have access to both the book and the dataset. I had tried to find if there was a dataset for this topic to search against it, but when I went through all my library and dataset documentation it does not show up there under that name (just the book). Is it part of another dataset and so the documentation is under a different name? I'm hoping to get a passage list result from this dataset if that is possible. Thanks!

The documentation is in the Introduction to the book. Albeit using Logos 9 format which will be translated to L10 Search e.g. prayer:content:Petition. But if you use the Context menu you will get the correct format.

Prayer is also documented in Logos Help

It is interesting that there is a speech label which gives much the same results e.g. speech:(content:Petition AND mode:Prayer).
