"Yours Forever" - Logos Pro Groundwork

I noticed that adding resources to my cart now causes a "Yours Forever" message to show up next to the resource in the cart. When you hover over the "info" button (the lowercased i in the circle) you get this message:

"The digital books you purchase are yours to keep. You'll always have access to them through the Logos app, even if you pause your subscription."

I don't have a subscription, so there's nothing for me to pause or cancel. It seems like Logos is already laying the backend groundwork for the Logos Pro subscription model rollout, and is assuming that most users will have one?

Solid assumption. If they do offer alternative feature purchase options (which I still hope and expect that they will), my guess is that they will organize their plans in such a way that a subscription package will be more appealing to most users. For example, if I am able to earn credits through a subscription package and later purchase features with those credits for a comparable price to what they would have cost anyway, I would be much more prone just to subscribe than to wait every two years for the purchase option to become available outright.

I thought 'forever' was a FL Marketing no-no. Since the next PE coming on-board ... well, who knows.

Just noticed this too... Good catch.

Probably there to "ease" the "concern" out there.... But it ignores the real concern of owning and not losing Features....

As Aaron stated in another post, I also heard from someone I trust, that they are still trying to give us an announcement by the end of the month....

Hopefully - it does include a true purchase option - as that would be the way to ease ALL the concern. As, if that new "Yours Forever" notification is part of their goal to encourage those of us who have been speaking against the Subscription Only model - they may be overlooking that a number have told them they are not purchasing ANYTHING until we know the facts.

Some, myself included - have told them that as long as Subscription Only is the route - no purchases will be made - books included....

This addition to the cart is just another piece of the chaos puzzle that they have created with this "rollout" [:D]

I agree that this is easing into the new 'way' of Logos/FL marketing. It does ignore the primary concern of owning resources in Logos Bible Software. The most fundamental reason we buy things is because we need them. People studying the Bible need biblical resources. That is where Logos is in the sphere. They provide resources 'on the go.' Hopefully it will change but I do not see it in the near future.

"Yours Forever?" I am skeptical about the veracity of that. But it offers a nice, Valentiney feel at the moment of purchase. Everyone will want that. Well. Everyone being as logically probable as "Yours Forever."

I would've thought so too. I won't quibble with a business about using 'forever' in their marketing (though a Bible study software company ought to have a fuller understanding of the word and not throw it around so willy-nilly) but I put no weight on it when deciding whether to spend money. I usually slot 'forever' marketing under the 'gimmick' category in my head and move on.

Oh, I don't mind them using 'forever' since its use is largely a talisman of the company they've become. My concern is for the 'younger' Logosians and their assumptions as to how long a digital purchase is good for. Thru the Logos-years, Bob argued not to worry .... somebody would buy Logos! And they did. And they will. Again. So, those throwing money at the company should plan accordingly ... not 'forever'.

They just took it down. My cart refreshed this morning and the “Yours forever” is no longer there.
