Search "this" AND "that"????

I think I have searched in Search - Bible for "this AND that" and found verses that have those two words in them. But lately, if I do a compound search with "AND", I get verses that have one or the other and sometimes both. How do I just get verses with both phrases.

I want to use Search and search Bible. For example.... I would like to find verses that have "pray AND doubt" in them only. Is that possible? I thought it was...... I deo not want "pray OR doubt" as I know that will give me verses containing either of the choices. I only want verses with both choices when I use "AND".

Yes, I can't imagine why that isn't working for a Bible search. In a books search, just make sure you have precise search on and not the new smart search.

The Bible search works for me as expected. Can you post a screenshot of what is happening for you?

When you open a new search to a Bible search, it opens to a cookbook of instructions.

Click on Christ AND Jesus under both words. It will move to the search argument.

In the search argument box, change Christ to pray and Jesus to doubt.

Hit enter. If you followed directions the results should be correct.

in the box at the top of the cookbook of instructions page, click on Use search templates

Chose the top entry in the left side panel. It will bring up a form in which you can enter pray as the first term and doubt as the second term

Click search. If you followed directions the results should be correct.

It works provided you don't include the quote marks e.g. pray AND doubt

I think the issue is simple.... there is not a verse in the New Testament that has the words "pray" and "doubt" in it.

I went to my bible, used the "inline search" and found a verse (1 Timothy 2:8) that has "pray" and "doubting".

Guess I would have thought that Search would have found that verse also since the Inline Search found it.

Oh well...

Ah ha! You don't have "match all forms" turned on. In your search window, toggle that icon on the top right.

Did your search use "Match all forms"? If not, it'll not find 'doubting' if you used 'doubt'. Another thing to consider is whether you're searching in a specific translation. My top Bible is the ESV and 1 Tim. 2:8 does not include the word 'doubt', so no way search would've found it. However, when I expanded the search to "Your Bibles" (and with "Match all forms" on), I quickly located the verse in other translations.

Search will always find what Inline Search finds. The results to your query pray AND doubt is is entirely up to to two things: which bible(s) you search and with which parameters. 1 Tim 2:8 will fire for KJV and KJV-like bibles and some others, but there's a lot of bibles that have pray and doubt within one verse. I assume that in Inline Search you did not use the "all wordforms"-mode, whereas in Search you did

Note that the setting of this is only possible in Search but applies to Inline Search as well - but can't be changed or even seen in Inline Search unfortunately (which is a design flaw Logos hasn't yet rectified even though they work at Inline Search)

Taking this setting out will find fewer, but still some occurences in some translations.

I did further checking and my trusty ole NKJV (one that the apostles carried around in the hip pocket of their Levis [:D]) does not have verses that have "pray" and "doubt" in the same verse... the verse in 1 Tim 2:8 is the closest to what I asked for...
