The search on the left was duplicated via the panel menu. The specification of the sort did not copy over although the order of the records did. This makes it confusing to change the sort order.
This is an old bug I reported a long time ago. I can't find the old post at the moment. Sad that it still hasn't been fixed.

Thankfully this was during the period where I was keeping track of bug reports in a notebook in Logos because there were so many bugs in Logos 9.
