How can I stop getting alerted to new comments on a particular thread?

I made a comment on a particular thread and that caused me to start getting alerts "The Bells" when others post on that thread. I am not interested in receiving any further alerts from that thread. Has anyone worked out how I can stop a discussion thread from alerting me?

Don't be shy now.

Don’t sign up to receive notifications for any thread 😉

Try clicking the Bookmark Ribbon on the top of the thread. If it is blue it means you are "subscribed" to the thread, if white you are not. You could turn off notifications for Bookmarked threads in the preferences as well (That would effect all Bookmarked threads)

Exactly. I've been Logos no-contact for years (thank you, Logos). Today, forum emails. It's like 2024 has been Faithlife's chance to go crazy.

I'm thinking Faithlife will spy 2025 as another great crazy-opportunity. Run the denom packages into the ground … that'd work.

Antony, I have been wondering this as well.

::::: I want to get notices for other threads.

This thread: I have a white ribbon, not a blue one. Want no notifications.

If I am mentioned, do I get a notification?

I’m glad I’m not getting any notifications 🔔 I don’t want them and have no need for them. I’m good at following up with my posts and comments.

Deleted. I think I found an answer to my problem with this (The forum software apparently signed me up for replies to every forum I regularly read. I didn't ask for notifications and I didn't get them before the new software went online). I went in and manually unchecked all the bookmarks. Hope this works ( the unsubscribe links in email didn't stop the emails).

Under the Notification preferences there are also options for notification of responses on your posts, as well as notifications for posts that you have participated in - the best bet may be just unchecking all notifications and slowly adding back ones that you may want to be notified about. I've personally only set notifications for the ones that appear in the "Bell" on the site - turned off/unchecked all the email notifications.

RJ: Thank you. I did both methods a couple of times to install them brainwise.

Can L fix your repeat situation? I sure hope so.

    Thanks everyone.

I think my problem is that I want to get notifications (not in my email though, but now you can choose between the bell and email) but if I comment in a thread I may not want to get further notifications from that thread. OK there are some threads I DON'T want to get notifications from 😱

I guess at the moment there is no solution.

@Jason Stone (Logos) is this something you can add to your list. We should be able to decide to no longer receive notifications from threads we gave engaged in, without having to turn off all notifications. This is something we could do in the previous form with the feature that said stop sending me emails.

Antony shows a needed button. The shut-off would preclude even mentions-of-you from generating a notification.

    @Frank Sauer

Thanks Frank, the problem with that, if I understand it correctly, is it will stop ALL new comments on posts I have participated in rather than just the ones I no longer want to see.

The "fix" for that may be through the Followed Content management - you may want to play around with those settings to see if they allow what you'd prefer.
