How to I hide books based upon religion

I got a Verbum package due to a book in it I wanted. It turned out cheaper

But how do I hid all the Catholic books? Is it possible. Or do I have to go through one by one making them not visible in a Search

But how do I hide all the Catholic books? Is it possible. Or do I have to go through one by one making them not visible in a Search

I think that prior to 1500 (including Biblical texts) it is much easier to tag the few books you can save - the Gnostic materials, the Muslim materials, a few heretics arguably. But you have to keep the much of the Rabbinic literature as the Catholic/Orthodox claim to have inherited the oral tradition as well as the written tradition of those God used to prepare the way for Jesus Christ. After 1500 it is more confusing as there are Catholic authors who did not claim to be Catholic - think Jaroslav Pelican, Simone Weil, Brother Roger of Taize … and numerous Anglican, Lutheran, Orthodox … scholars whose work is entirely compatible with Catholicism … or should I mention the theology that was worked out by Catholic and Orthodox scholars and taken over by Protestants without a peep of protest that the doctrine was "Catholic" - because it was also "catholic". In short, getting everything "Catholic" out of your library is impossible, even if you went resource by resource manually. What you need to do, is tag the resources you are clearly not interested in and search a collection that excludes them. As you find additional offensive/non-helpful resources simply add a tag and they are out of your search. I go a step further and remove them from my device so that they are only in the cloud.

For starters you can assume the following publishers are Catholic:

    • Word on Fire
    • Vatican Polyglot Press
    • United States Catholic Conference
    • Libreria Editrice Vaticana
    • Paulist Press
    • Alba Press
    • Ancient Faith
    • Aquinas Institute
    • Ascension Press
    • Augustine Insitute
    • Ave Maria Press
    • B. Herder
    • Basilica Press
    • Benziger Brothers
    • Canon Law Society of America
    • Catholic Answers
    • Catholic Book Exchange
    • Catholic Book Publishing Corp.
    • Catholic Publication House
    • The Catholic Publication Society Co.
    • The Catholic Records Press
    • Catholic Scripture Study International
    • Catholic Truth Society
    • Catholic University of America
    • Cistercian Publications
    • Confraternity of Christian Doctrine
    • Crossroad
    • …. and so on

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

Interestingly … I'm not allowed to buy that library. I'm only allowed to drop 2k+ on Portfolio.

Wow! @MJ. Smith what you wrote is the most succinct, clearest and comprehensive response I've ever seen regarding this complex and frequently waaaay oversimplified topic! I’ll be saving your post for future reference.  Gold medal. 🏆️🏅

I’ve made purchases like that before.

over time I have found that people I disagree with sometimes ask interesting questions.

not that I agree with their answers, but because: 1. Having interacted with their arguments I am better prepared to rebuff their thinking should I encounter it in the wild, and 2. Because they come from a different perspective they approach things different and ask questions that maybe I wouldn’t have thought of; the answering of which deepens my understanding of the topic.

so - maybe - there is some value (and certainly less work) in keeping them.

I’d definitely tag them as @MJ. Smith suggested. I tagged all my resources in accordance with the theological tags project a number of years ago. So at a glance I can tell their perspective.

👆This. Reading widely is something a mentor taught me years ago. I have deeply benefited from understanding other people’s positions. Learning something from someone you disagree with can be very enriching.
