One of the reasons that I switched from Accordance to Logos (and there are many) was the general lack of resource development. One of the primary resources I use are the Theological Journals (and these haven't been updated in Accordance since 2012). I just wanted to let Logos know that I appreciate your continued development on these complex resources.

Think about it. If you want a study Bible, commentary, or monograph, you can purchase it in print and it's still extremely useful. But journals are different. Many of the journals in the various Logos journal libraries are only to be found in the largest seminary libraries. Even if you can find the print volumes you're looking for, tracing the thread of scholarly conversation from one print volume to another would be difficult at best, even with a yearly index.

Having these resources in a digital format gives me more research flexibility than even the best seminary libraries can provide. I can’t imagine doing research without it.

I don't use the journals myself, per se, but thanks for the insight into why it is so practical. I'll certainly use that on my scholarly friends who may be hesitating about getting into Logos! I have at least one, LOL!

Mark, I am totally with you. I use Journals all the time. While I use a few things in logos, I use Journals for almost all of my studies. Unfortunately, Accordance has not updated since 2012.

And I don't see Accordance EVER updating their journals. It's a very complex project to develop since every journal publisher uses different formatting, and there's even different formatting from one issue to another! Accordance let go of almost all their full-time content developers years ago, and you can see the evidence for that in the number of titles they've released in the past two years.

They could outsource the project, but that would require the manpower to train the person performing the Accordance mark-up, and they've been reluctant to do that in the past when they had a large pool of developers.

Which makes me very grateful that Logos understands the importance of journals for a subset of their users, and continues with rapid development.

I wish there was a way to receive journals automatically by a subscription directly into Logos. (Not the one where I'm renting the large library of journals).

For example, I like the Bible and Spade magazine. I haven't subscribed in some time because I'd far rather have them in Logos format than paper format. The last year available for purchase on Logos is 2011 (or 2016 if you bought it as part of a giant package). But I would love to be able to pay for a year's subscription to it, and instead of getting the physical journal in the mail, to instead have the current issue automatically added to my library (and I own it, I'm not renting it).

Hey folks. I’ve been a long time subscriber to the Logos Galaxia Journals which is charged annually at £50. I believe in the max subscription to Logos there are also some journals provided. Does anyone know if these journals are the same? I don’t fancy paying twice for the same resources 😊

When I look at the resources in my library that have a temporary license, these are what seem to be available:

American Journal of Theology volumes 1-5
Bible Study Magazine
Christianity Today (only two volumes: 1 and 53)
Didaktikos: Journal of Theological Eduction volumes 1-4
The Harvard Theological Review volumes 1-5

I suppose it's possible that there are other journals included in the Max subscription that I already own, so they aren't showing up as part of a temporary license, but I don't own very many.

I’ve asked this a few times in recent years and won’t be asking again since I have no interest in buying anything there, but the answer we got every time last year is that Accordance is thinking about ways (eg tech) to make the development process faster. The only specific indication that anything is actually being done is that Nathan got the phone number for someone at Galaxie. Short answer, no. Nobody is working on them.

Ah, many thanks. They only show 4 journals in the list, so if this is the case, then there is only one duplicate journal. Galaxie has a fair few more journals. Thanks for your help.

Also, Max only includes BibSac volumes 1-25.
