Got a Free Book offer BUT not available in my country/region?

I got an Offer of Free Book from email and Logos Dashboard. "Experience Your Bible by Josh McDowell; Sean McDowell"

But, it says: "The publisher has not made this resource available for purchase in your country or region." So I cannot download.

PS: Someone I introduced Logos to, asked me the question, "Why did Logos offer free book that is not available in our country/region". I am thinking how to reply to him …😓. Thanks.

Someone I introduced Logos to, asked me the question, "Why did Logos offer free book that is not available in our country/region". I am thinking how to reply to him …

I would point out the following things:

    • It is very generous of Logos to privide free books, we are not 'entitled' to get free books
    • We don't know the selection criteria for those books, but it probably involves agreement with the publishers and also some circulation of publishers
    • Some publishers make some books not available for all of Logos' customers (might be a rights issue for the publisher themselves, might as well be an issue with them trying to segment the world into zones to achieve greater control over prices), some are more likely to do that than others, this is their decision and Logos has to follow that
    • Logos is selling primarily to the US market so the people selecting the free books are probably not even aware of geo-restrictions on the free books, and the restriction will only affect a minority of users.
    • It isn't the bad will of Logos that they selected a free book not available to me - especially if the book is interesting and/or valuable for many users, it is actually a good choice for a free book for the majority of users and I can rejoice with them rather than grumble.
    • It is not often that a free book is geo-restricted, it happens once in a while but not with a high frequency or regularity for Logos edition books (more often with eBooks), so look around for all the other free books and look forward towards in two and four weeks time for the next round of newly free books.

Have joy in the Lord! Smile

I especially agree with this, and had a similar thought here.

Logos, if you're listening, I am grateful for all the free books (the years and years of them!), even for that one I couldn't pick up due to where I have the good fortune to reside. (On the other hand, I'm not happy about geo-restrictions at all …)
