Could you time your windows launch time for me please?

Member Posts: 141 ✭✭

Hello, I have been trying to resolve what I think is a problem, but maybe not. I have a Lenovo 2-in-1 with an i7 chip. Launch time is a full 32 seconds. On my M3 Mac it takes between 6-9 seconds. Here is my Laptop equipment. Any thoughts - Logos support ask more questions than answers. SO MAYBE this is normal - so I thought I would ask.

Device name X1ThinkPad
Processor 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-1370P 1.90 GHz
Installed RAM 64.0 GB (63.6 GB usable)

System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Pen and touch Pen and touch support with 10 touch points

Sounds slow to me; I would expect 6-10 seconds on Windows.

Can you upload a Logos.log file showing startup performance?

Mine stands on 17 seconds launch time. Lenovo Laptop, i7, Win11.

What helped me was to repair my installation → https://support.logos.com/hc/en-us/articles/33897534825741-What-to-do-if-Logos-Crashes

and also to rebuild the index:

    Hope this helps.

If you slowed the 1370P to 1.9 GHz that might account for things (it is rated at 3.9 GHz, with Max 5.20 GHz).

Dave Hooton - winner winner chicken dinner! WOW what a difference in all applications set on Best Performance plugged in. I guess when I was looking at all this I was concerned about batter life. First time using it in the pulpit in tablet mode today. 14 inch is big, and I have to figures something different to tilt it but it was very nice. I used to put my sermons on my iPad and I just wanted one unit. Thank God I found Nebo - works great on a 2-in-1. Goodnotes was horrible.

Dave, thank you. Question - what do you all do for battery life? Sad that it is one or the other.

What is your battery life now?

In Control panel > Power Options I'm on a Power Saver plan and I can vary the computer/processor power with Minimum 5% and Maximum up to 100%. I wouldn't go below 80%

Thanks Dave. I find myself needing a lot of battery life but I did make some changes.

    Hey Dave,

I find that on my ThinkPad that keep the processor even at 60% keeps my fan going. That is one thing I really miss from the Mac. I am learning Logos on Windows ok - but the Mac and M chips were great. But I have to make a choice, if I want a 2-in-1, Mac will never do it.

Bottom line I put it on Best Performance and I am just waiting for Logos to launch. It is a long time, but everything else launches very fast!

    Thanks again - Rino

Well, I think I figured this out. I was still struggling with start up times. I went through the settings and found Enable Hardware Acceleration. Well - my Lenovo had it integrated graphics. This made a HUGE difference changing it to NO!

Well, that was short lived. I had to restart my computer as launching logos was doing this:

It would start with one process then the second one would pop up then just hang - even after force quit. I did the "fix install" , I deleted and reinstalled. I just don't know. I have 64 gigs of ram. It should fly!

Thank you Dave - it was a frustrating day yesterday. Then I call support an…… drum roll…… it launched. The only think I did different last night was launch one time with the control key held, re-signed in, went to bed, and this morning it launched. Last night it would not launch at all, or took 5 min. Rebooted computer many times also. It’s the Devil :)

    Thanks for caring you all!

    Windows PC - 3 seconds.

    My specs aren't that great. It's usually between 3 - 5 seconds.
    You definitely have an issue.

Guys don't forget that when your computer is in 'performance' power mode, when using YouTube with videos at 1080p and above, Chrome will often hover between moderate to very high power use. At 720p and below it's always 'very low' usage. No idea why, or how much power that is, but it's a thing. So just be aware that Chrome gobbles up power and resources like it's going out of style.

See this example, Chrome has a bunch of tabs open. With one video running see the usage.

Yes a quarter of my 64GB of RAM is being used. I only have Logos and Chrome running (plus a bunch of background stuff) but these two programs hog RAM badly.
