Ideas wanted for peaching/presenting

I use the preaching mode on Logos and read from my laptop when speaking.

I'd like to get a projector and use it to display words of hymns, scriptures, and the occasional map and diagram. I know there's a feature to include slides in Logos. However, I'm familiar with PowerPoint, and it seems superior to Logos's feature.

I was wondering what sort of technical set-up people use. I'm wondering if I could run PowerPoint alongside Logos and how awkward it'd be.

Could you share or present just a single application (PowerPoint) while you are using Preaching Mode? Also, I'm curious about what operating system you are using, and/or if you have access to a second device like an iPad to present from.

I used to preach using Logos preaching mode and PowerPoint for slides. Generally speaking, we had someone at the computer by the soundboard who would advance the slides throughout the service through lyrics and other slides. Then, depending on who was in charge of advancing the slides, I had a "clicker" remote hooked to the computer for advancing sermon slides, however, I was not a big fan of that method because I had no way to make sure I was on the right slide. Looking back, I would have set up a monitor, whether on the front pew or a larger one on the back facing the pulpit (both of which I have seen done in different churches) to make sure I was on the right slide. If I were setting up my own system, free from budgetary constraints, I would choose to have a flatscreen TV/larger monitor in the back facing me, as I think glancing that way would be more natural. If you have a spare computer monitor hanging around, though, it could be a lot less expensive to do it that way.

I have also used Preaching mode with Proclaim for service presentation; with the exception of when I was preaching, there wasn't any change from how we handled the rest of the service. Someone would advance the lyric slides from the back. When I would go up to preach, I would advance the slides in the preaching mode on my iPad. While PowerPoint is a bit easier to make and edit slides with, once I got the hang of Proclaim, I really enjoyed it, especially the pre-service slides with Bible trivia questions that would auto-generate!

I hope my ramblings make sense and may give some ideas. I'm going to fiddle around with PowerPoint on my computer and iPad later today.

I use a hybrid combo of Logos and Power point when I preach. I write the sermon on Logos with slides, but then while still in sermon mode I create a heading "Welcome to Evangelical Baptist Church" and select a media theme I like. After that I put the Hymns and other service type slides into the sermon as slides. Once I export it to Power point, I drag the service stuff in front of the sermon stuff. I use one tablet to advance the slides on our Smart TV and the other kindle fire to preach from Logos sermon notes. We are small, I don't have "people" to advance slides for me, so this is what I have come up with.
