Formatting in Sermon Builder

I use Logos Pro. I use the Sermon Builder tool extensively. Logos recently updated to v.40.0. Here I am typing away in Sermon Builder for tomorrow.

In my Sermon, I imported an outline from Word to use. Now, when I come to one of the headings in the imported Outline and try to type on that line, Logos will record my words, but at the same time, it enters the exact same text only formatted in reverse. This is a brand new thing. Then, if I try to delete the backwards text, it will delete the words that I want to keep and then the words following the backward text, but it will not delete the backwards text.

If I try to print it out, the backwards text is not printed, but it still shows up on the screen. If I try to cut and paste or copy and paste to put an example in this, it will not.

This is what it looks like: :ekil skool ti tahw si sihT

This is completely nuts.

Any thoughts?

I just tried to recreate your issue but was unsuccessful. I'm on Windows 11 as well.

I had an issue a while back that was similar to this, but was in the Bible Study Builder. If it persists after restarting Logos (and maybe your computer, I had a completely separate issue that restarting my computer fixed just yesterday), I would reach out to Logos directly.

Also, if you can, add the "bug" tag to this post to bring it to Logos' attention much more quickly.

Thanks friends- it only happens when I import something from Word into Sermon Builder. If I am typing in Sermon Builder and I have not imported anything from Word, no problems whatsoever.

In Word, I had a 2 page outline I coped using "select all" and "copy."

When I pasted it into Sermon Builder, I used the "Paste without formatting" option as I had read a couple other threads about problems importing Word documents into Sermon Builder.

@Gregory Kirk, you only got it half right, LOL. It should look like this: :siht ekil kool dluohs tI .LOL ,thgir flah ti tog ylno uoy .kriK yrogerG@

This problem only shows up if I try to type on a line that was imported from Word. If I type between lines of text or hit Enter and start typing on a new line, no problems.

This behavior only started after upgrading to 40.0. No problems in any earlier iteration of Logos.

@Jonathan Bradley tried restarting both Logos and the computer- no fix. Is there somewhere I need to click to add the "bug" tag?

At work I use a MacBook Pro M1. I have Logos on it as i sometimes have time to edit things between projects.

    It is showing different weirdness:

In the same sermon with the same imported text, if I try to type in new text on a line I imported from Word, it will enter the text where I put the cursor and, simultaneously, enter the same text at a random location farther down the same line, so I end up with the new text in the same line twice with other imported text in between the two insertions.

It looks like this on the Mac: The original text imported from Word is: 1. God promised Abraham descendants.

I then type in "This is a test" after "descendants." And this is what appears on screen:

    1. God promised Abraham descendants. This is a test1. God promised Abraham descendants. This is a test.

It inserts the typing at the insertion point, then it duplicates the portion preceding the new typing, then adds the new typing after the second occurrence of the original text. The only thing I typed was "This is a test."

You know, I really used to like WordPerfect's "reveal codes" feature for times just like this- you could "look under the hood" and see what was actually happening.

Hey, Logos! Do I have a bug here or am I missing something???

    Thanks!

@Timothy Howe thanks for reporting this. We have a fix for this in the next version of sermon builder, and a workaround in the meantime.

The replication I got for this bug is (bizarrely) caused by a Tab character being pasted in. If you close and reopen the sermon, all those duplicated characters will disappear. Delete any Tabs in the paragraph and typing after works perfectly.

If that doesn't work for you, I would be very interested in the actual text your pasting (which doesn't show up so well in the forum).
We also have a fix for pasting from Word.

Thank you. I will be working in Sermon Builder again later today. I'll let you know if anything weird happens after trying your solution.
