"No Space for download" error

I bought an audio package of "English Standard Version Audio" so I can specifically use the audio for offline use (free version allows for streaming but not offline because of licensing issues). When I try to actually download the audio to my local iPhone, however, it says I do not have enough storage space. This is incorrect as I know I have over 40 GB of storage space on my iPhone. It is odd to me it says I only have 3.8 GB? Would anyone have answers to this?

    I had the same issue you were having and found no answers for it on the forums. So I kept playing around and it looks like I found a workaround. With the audiobook pulled up, click on Book Info (i icon in the top right corner) → Media Downloads → Download All, and all chapters should begin downloading. Hope this works for you as it did for me.
