Feeling like your not honoring God

Like I said in my bio I am fairly new to my faith I turned my life over to him truly 6 months ago when I let go of my fiancé who I knew God didn't want me with I kept telling myself I was helping him. See we were both in recovery from addiction however, he kept bringing the stuff in the home and I wasn't strong enough one day so I used after a couple of days I said you have to go it was a really hard time for me I wasn't working my lease was ending I didn't know what I was going to do. God showed me how good he is he got 2 months of rent paid for and I was able to resign my lease.
With all that being said I still vape, and I want to stop I am coming off of medication I am in therapy there is so much going on and I feel like I am justifying it and at the same time I have these expectations of being perfect or I am supposed to be further along than I am. I watched Social Dallis yesterday which I heard John Bevere speak for the first time and it was so good, but it made me think am I truly honoring God am I listening by continuing to vape? This is a process God is not judging me because its taking me time to change right?

Welcome to the forums! So glad you're here. 😊
How long have you been using Logos? Would you like some resource recommendations for new believers? Rest assured, we are all on this journey of growth together.
The Gospel of Luke, chapter 15, may provide some insight into God's perspective regarding struggling people who turn to Him.

Welcome to the family of God! We are a bunch of misfits, imperfects and works in progress. God is not rushing you or judging you. You have the same things that others of us have: bad habits. God is patient and a perfect gentlemen. His yoke is easy.
The are many believers that are fighting addictions. He Loves and accepts you with the faults you carry. Jesus will work in you via the Holy Spirit and free you from these and other human flaws.
Find a good church and others that will help you in your walk. Remember, that God will ALWAYS welcome you.
As far as Logos goes, take your time and learn the basics. Several good videos are available on their site. It is a learning process that goes on.
Discipleship is a lifelong process. The Church is a welcoming hospital for all. Salvation is Free; Discipleship will cost you everything. Fortunately, God is very patient with all of us. Its a lifelong journey.
Blessings and Welcome,
Terry

Hi there.
See this. I think he boasts his students having a 96% quitting rate for tobacco.

Hi Rebekah,
I'm so proud of you for making such an insightful and strong decision to break off your relationship with your fiance. It sounds like you are on your way to living a healthier and more meaningful life. Try not to be so hard on yourself, nor feel guilty about not making quicker progress. Please never feel that God is judging you. You are amazing and so special. You can't be loved anymore than you are already. You are in the process of change, and change can take time. Be very kind and understanding of yourself.

@rebekah westfall I am grateful to God for your coming to Him, and for your progress in working toward recovery from addiction!
I love Logos, and online forums can be helpful sometimes, but I strongly encourage you to connect with healthy, godly people in person. As Terry said above, find a good church. Maybe go to a few different ones, if you need to, to find one that seems like a good fit for you, and then make a commitment to go regularly, and try to meet people in person and get to know them. What we cannot do alone, we can do together, with God's help!
Regarding your concern about expecting too much perfection from yourself, yes, you're right — God does not expect us to be perfect all at once. Jesus calls us to be humble, and says how blessed are the meek. The Factbook and Topic Guides on "Humility" have many Scripture verses that teach us about humility.
But in addition to studying the Bible, it is also good to just read the Bible without distractions. I love both. I have Logos, which I find wonderfully helpful to me. But I also love just sitting with the Bible (hard-copy book) in my hands, no distractions, and just reading the Word. Logos also can help with reading plans, though, which can help you schedule reading the Bible every day, whether it's the whole Bible in one year, or the New Testament over a certain period, etc..

@rebekah westfall, you are on the right path. As others have said, change and growth take time. Trust God and do your best. God will do the rest. I pray that you will recognize the progress you've already made, and be encouraged to continue to mature in God's grace.

Welcome to the family, both of Logos and, more importantly, the kingdom of God.
- Get in the word. Logos can help. Set up a reading plan and stick with it. Use the prayer request feature. Set reminders to keep you reading. https://support.logos.com/hc/en-us/articles/360016525132-Work-through-your-books-with-Reading-Plans
- Get in church and seek solid biblical discipleship with another lady (not a man). I'm assuming by your name you're a lady.
- Find an outlet to serve the kingdom of God with other believers. Something simple that you can stick to at the start. Service is almost as important as getting in the word, worshipping both with other believers and alone, and good discipleship.
- Tell people about what Jesus did for you!

Thank you all for the comments; it truly helped make me feel like I am on the right path. I am in a church I go to regularly and a small group. I believe God is calling me to do more service I have been having a hard time getting to my church since they moved, and I work late on Saturdays I live in Hawaii so there is one here at 4 on the beach and I went there last weekend it was good, and I believe I will be able to be of service there a lot easier

This thread contains helpful ideas and resource suggestions. To summarize a couple points, it is important to recognize that the Bible is uncontestably the best resource of all. Additionally, a simple study Bible or background commentary may prove helpful. If you opt to subscribe to Logos, the subscription should grant you access to all of the resources you need initially as a new believer looking to study the Bible. In all honesty, the Bible itself is all you really need. But other books can be both fun and helpful.
