CSB Copy Verses

Member Posts: 1,208 ✭✭✭

In the CSB there are several places where it places an extra comma at the break in a verse. An example of this is in Isaiah 53:10 at the end of the first line after the word severely is a period followed by a comma. There doesn't seem to be any consistency in this but it happens fairly frequently. Has anyone else experienced this?

Isaiah 53:10 (CSB)

10 Yet the LORD was pleased to crush him severely.,

When you make him a guilt offering,

he will see his seed, he will prolong his days,

and by his hand, the LORD’s pleasure will be accomplished.

What formatting are you using in the Copy Bible Verses tool?

I don't see an extra comma where you show it but I do see one above the full stop. And this seems to be picking up the comma used to separate two footnote indicators

Thanks Graham. I am using Styled formatting.

    I am using Styled formatting.

Please provide a few more details - that isn't one of the default options in the tool.

Please provide a screenshot showing what you see in the Copy Bible Verses tool.

I can't get a screen shot, the option disappears when I touch a key. What I do is highlight the verse(s). It then gives me the copy verse options at the bottom of the popup: Styled, Lines or Text Only.

Apologies - I didn't realise you were using the popup Selection menu.

The Styled option uses the last style that was used in the Copy Bible Verses Tool.

Could you try opening that tool from the Tools menu, entering Is 53:10 in the reference box and then posting a screenshot of how that displays the verse?

    Thanks Graham. Here it is

As you can see that doesn't have a regular comma - it has a superscripted comma as I mentioned above.

When I do the Copy Styled function and paste it into a Word document I get exactly what is shown in your screenshot.

Your original screenshot suggests you are getting something different - where are you pasting it?

I am pasting it into Notes in Logos.

My copy verse tool was set at ESV. My default Bible is now at CSB so I changed it to CSB before taking the screenshot.

I still don't see this formatting when pasting into Notes.

What platform are you running Logos on?

    I have a Dell laptop,

I'm afraid I'm struggling to explain what is going on - as we are seeing different results.

Please repost the screenshot of the Copy Bible Verses tool but show the whole tool so I can see what formatting style you have selected.

    Sure here it is.

    Thank you

So the strange thing is that, in the Tool, it shows the apostrophe but, in Notes, it appears as a comma

That sounds a bit like a font issue. Can you paste a screenshot of the note after pasting the verse in - showing the top of the note with the details of which font is being used.

    Sure, here it is.

Like Graham, this verse is copying correctly for me. If you click the 3-dot menu in the upper-right corner of the Copy Bible Verses tool and select Edit Style: Fully Formatted, I wonder if your style matches mine, which is as follows:

    %UseBibleParagraphs
    %CopyAllText
    %NoFootnotes
    %NoCitation

    =Header

    <p>[FullPassageRef] ([Version])</p>

    =ForEachVerse
    [VerseText]

I am noticing that when you paste the verse, it is pulling down all superscripts, including verse numbers.

@Michael Kinch Thank you for the screenshot. Unfortunately, I cannot explain why you are getting different results than I am. With the same code, your tool is pulling the superscripts down while mine is leaving them where they belong. I assume you are running the current version of Logos on Windows 11?
