Since I downloaded v.40, all my articles etc., are really slow to open. I get the little "wheel" that spins. I'm using an iMac with the latest OS. Is anyone else having this issue?

Yes. Very slow. MacBook Air M3 (2024). It now takes 8-10 seconds to open books and other resources.

Exactly, Brother Dunstan Enzor. I was showing my sister-in-law Logos (she didn't know anything about it), and it hung up on me. Very embarrassing. It wasn't a good promo for Logos.

On my Macs (the oldest of which is 2022), v40 itself is fast to load (e.g., to the Dashboard), but when I tell it what I want, e.g., a book or a layout, it takes 20-50 seconds to load whatever it was I clicked on. In the grand scheme of things, that's not very long, but with computers it's a really long time. In Logos 10, it was essentially instantaneous. This began before v40, but after Logos 10, I think probably with the first build that no longer said Logos 10.

This has also been my experience with 40.o on Mac OS. The first layout after starting Logos takes an unreasonable time to load. Overall, I have seen m ore beachballs lately than I have seen since the release of Logos10.0. Logos, you are moving in the wrong direction speed wise.

+1, just want to add my voice to those experiencing a slowdown. I'm using 40.1 on a Mac M1.

Logos starts up quickly, but when I try to load a resource for the first time the beach ball appears and Logos freezes for about 8-10 seconds.

This has never happened with Logos 10 and really impedes workflow. Can something be done about this?

    +1 here too.

40.1 MacOS. First resource of the day gets a spinning beach ball for about 10 seconds.

I'm using Logos today, and my articles are getting hung up. This was never an issue before v40. I hope the tech people know about it and are working on it. If anyone knows what's going on, please let me know.

Can also confirm the same issue for me and I'm on Windows. I'm a new user of Logos and at first it was pretty great but with the recent updates things seem to have slowed down and it really is a pain to have to wait for a resource to load or to experience the delay when you click on something and it takes a while to open.

I'm also not running old or outdated hardware so I know that would not be the issue.

Hope this can get fixed soon.

This was a new (old) development… I haven't seen the forever spinning sync wheel for a very, very long time, but here it is:

Could this be the same issue reported here?

I have downloaded it, but not restarted. Who is doing what to fix this, Joe??

It is slower, I admit. I think it is because of all the "features" they are putting into Logos. I think every feature that is added takes a min-nute time to be loaded. I was wondering if "maybe" there was a way to load the main program and then load all or some of the features afterwards? I do hope it does not get any slower to load.

Also, I would like to see Logos work less on adding new features and more on re-tuning some of the features (i.e. Sermon Builder - more and better colors, links etc) and others, and maybe combining Sermon Builder and Passage Lists as they are similar in some ways. I do appreciate the new features that have been added, but I think there is still a wish list to upgrade some of the features we already have.

But what do I know? Being an ex-programmer is like being an ex-smoker. They want everyone to think like them! Which I am glad everyone does not think like I do…. 😎

It's still an issue. Has anyone heard if Logos Tech acknowledged the problem and said what they plan to do?

@xnman You seem to be an advocate for combining features/functions and that's all great, but not everyone uses Logos the way everyone else does. Having never used the Sermon Builder, I have no idea what it looks like, but I do know that I don't want to see anything to do with sermon building when all I want to do is put a list of Bible references together, something I do regularly.

@Yasmin Stephen I understand and you do make a point. I'm just saying that it would be good if Logos would look at the features they have with the idea of merging them if possible. I do believe that the more features we get, the more loading time Logos will have to have. I would like it not to take tooooo long for Logos to load.

I believe this thread includes reports of the sync problem I previously mentioned, a problem that has been fixed.

I believe this also includes reports of another problem that has not yet been fixed in the current stable version of our software. This problem involves slow loading at startup.

It would be helpful to conduct an experiment. We think version 41 may improve this problem.

If anyone is still experiencing slowness at startup in Logos 40.2.4, it would be helpful if you could switch to Beta and report back here if you then see better performance.

Instructions for switching to Beta are available here. Keep in mind that Beta testing is not for everyone, consider the warnings before proceeding.

We don't expect everyone reporting this problem to switch to Beta. But any feedback we can get from those who do would be helpful.
