Why do links only half work?

For a while now (at least since copying L4 links were removed, probably a lot longer), if I click a Logos link in my Obsidian notes to a resources that's already open in Logos but in a tab that's not on top… the link will bring the resource's tab into view (as if I clicked the tab), but it will NOT jump to the point in the resource indicated in the link. If I click again it will jump to that point.

Example: if my link is to an article in Lexham Bible Dictionary, but that tab is behind a tab for the Anchor Yale Dictionary, it shows the Lexham dictionary at whatever article I was last reading & I have to click a second time to jump to the linked article. If Lexham dictionary is already showing, it jumps to the article on the first click.

It works for me. In the video below, you can see that the LBD panel was on "Hagar", but the link activated it and navigated it to "atheism".

What OS and version of Logos are you using?

Windows 11 & Logos 40.2.4 (both fully updated)… just happened again, but seeing your screencap I experimented a little bit and realized that it only happens when the link meets all of these criteria…

    1. it's a Bible link
    2. it's to a translation other than my default one
    3. the tab group with my 4 Bibles is not in focus (in other words, a tab in a different group is focused)

I have the NET Bible as my default, but this year I'm doing my daily reading from BSB, today I'm starting at Isaiah 38… I have the following links in my note page (in Obsidian, not Logos) for that chapter (I keep all 4 versions open in tabs)

        - [NET](https://ref.ly/Is38;netbible2ed)
        - [BSB](https://ref.ly/Is38;dblbba9f40183526463)
        - [LSB](https://ref.ly/Is38;lgcystndrdbblsb)
        - [ESV](https://ref.ly/Is38;esv)

the first one, being to my default Bible, always does exactly what I'd expect it to… the others will only bring those tabs to the front, at whatever point it was previously

unrelated note: one of the reasons my notes are NOT in Logos is because if I tried to create those links in a Logos note, Logos would "helpfully" see that the text looks like a Bible reference, delete the link that I specified, and auto-create a link to my default Bible (that plus "Add Reference" not being available on Mobile means Logos notes don't work for me, except for highlighting)

That's similar to another old bug within Logos itself … steps as you ref. Normally have to click ref twice (inside Logos).

I'm still not able to reproduce this problem. I put those four Bibles as four tabs in one panel, and navigated them to Gen 1. I then opened a commentary in a separate panel and gave it the focus. I pasted those links into Obsidian. Whenever I clicked a link, the specified Bible came to the foreground and navigated to Isaiah 38.

I've had this happen to me a few times while using Logos, but not recently. I've wondered about that. I've never tried it from links outside of Logos that would open the program. I'm going to go try that now.

How do I set it to open these links in the desktop app and not the web app? I'm on macOS.

EDIT: My problem was I was trying to open it from a web browser. Any other app opens it in the Desktop App.

ok, then this afternoon i'm going to try clicking the links in Obsidian. On desktop I usually use Visual Studio Code, which has the quirk of handling links itself instead of hamding off to Windows (which means the old logos4: & logosres: links don't work, because VS Code doesn't know about them) #thxMicrosoft
