Bug: Can't create new Reading Plans on Mac

I have some existing Reading Plans that seem to be working fine, but I just discovered I'm unable to create any new ones successfully on the desktop.
I'll show the full flow through a series of screenshots below.
First I start the reading plan from my preferred Bible:
I'll just take the default options:
It appears to be successful:
I can even see it on my Dashboard:
…and in my Documents:
When I click the Reading Plan from the Dashboard to start reading, it opens up (on another monitor but maybe this is due to a layout?), but the tab in the upper right doesn't show the reading plan itself and that popup ("Your document is synchronizing. Retry sync.") eventually shows up (seems to happen quicker if I click the Notes tab and back to the Reading Plan tab).
If I click Retry Sync, I get the following:
At this point, my Documents now have an "Untitled Reading Plan" and the reading plan I created listed.
After I do a "Close All", however, my documents now only show the "Untitled Reading Plan" which will also disappear once I try and open it and close it again:

This is where you lose me (on Windows laptop). What opens up
on another monitor
?
When I click the Plan on Dashboard I am shown the start of the Reading in my bible:-After finishing the reading I can click
Mark Done:-
The Reading Plan itself does not get involved whether open in a tab or not.

@Dave Hooton - a layout was breaking out into a separate window for the reading plan. I have two monitors, so it was jumping to the other monitor. I figured out the reason why it was breaking out and also why my layout included the reading plan itself was due to a custom layout I had applied to Bible Reading Plan layout. Somehow, this custom layout was causing the creation of the reading plan to fail, and when I reset the layout to default, things started working again.
Someone else reported a similar behavior (and marked my response as the answer, so I think there's a real bug hiding here):

The bug appeared immediately I opened an old customised Bible Reading Plan layout.
I have create a separate report for this, fortunately with a fix.
