No unique forum user names?

Sorry, how could I know you're the real @Sean and not a character in an Alfred Hitchcock movie impersonating him?
@Jason Stone (Logos) is probably the best person to answer this.

You get dibs. I'll relent.

I'll change it back every April 1st for the day until they fix it. 🤣

Have you considered changing your community username to help eliminate getting mixed up with other members with the same name? You can do so by editing your profile, here:

Why should I do that when I've had it for so many years? This is the first forum I've ever been on that allows duplicate user names. How about you change your software to prevent that?

Thank you

I have thought for a while allowing duplicate names is unusual. This is especially true since a specific name is a functionally significant entity when we use the "@" character. I'm often not sure if I'm evoking the right label.
However, I'm not sure what can be done now.

No requirement for you to change, @Sean, but it'd help to smooth out mentions.
Having merged the feedback site, the Logos wiki, and the legacy community forums site, we had to make a decision in how exactly we'd match all of the comments, posts, and articles that belong to specific users. We opted for Logos IDs (a number assigned to all users, in the background, thanks to our seamless SSO login connection) over that of unique usernames, knowing that users can easily change usernames.
