PrayerMate Session Scheduling vs Logos Prayer List Scheduling

I've setup Prayer lists in Logos but I have been frustrated by the static scheduling options. I used to track prayers in PrayerMate, but since I've retired, I seldom use my phone. PrayerMate is an amazing mobile prayer app but does not have a desktop version. The prayer lists and prayer subjects in PrayerMate are very similar to Logos but the scheduling approach is completely different.

Once you have captured all of these different prayer needs [in lists and subjects], the real value of PrayerMate is how it then helps you narrow all of those topics down to a small selection that you can then pray through on any given day. Each time you start to pray it generates a “prayer session” — a selection from across all of your lists with as many or as few subjects as you like. PrayerMate balances its selection so that you don’t just end up praying for lots of things from one list — instead you pray for a whole range of topics, whilst prioritising the things you haven’t prayed for in a while so that over time you can be confident of praying through everything.

For those who like a bit more control, you can customise the settings. For example, you can force PrayerMate to always include one item from your “Biblical prayers” list and two items from your “My family” list. You can also schedule items to appear on certain dates, certain days of the week/month, or with higher or lower priority.

PrayerMate allowed me to add or delete prayer requests without having to figure out when I could fit them into the schedule. It simplified managing my prayer lists. I know it is unlikely, but it would be wonderful if Logos and PrayerMate could partner to integrate the PrayerMate functionality into Logos. It's a feature that would improve Logos and could grow PrayerMate's user base.

  • In 2023, PrayerMate had almost 47k downloads (that's 7k more than last year), taking it up to a total of 575k downloads
  • 133k people used the app over the course of the year, and around 31k per month by December.
  • A whopping 17.8 million items were prayed for so far this year - that's 1.54 million per month from January-November.

It’s a feature that would convince me to get a subscription.

I, too, tried using the Logos Prayer feature, but found it underwhelming. I then tried maybe 6-7 dedicated prayer apps, but quickly narrowed my options down to PrayerMate and Echo Prayer. I used both of those for several months and ultimately chose Echo Prayer. Unfortunately, it's only available as an Android and iOS app; there's no support for Windows or Web browsers. I wish Faithlife would greatly improve the prayer features in Logos, and PrayerMate and Echo Prayer could provide ideas on how to improve it. I think it should be able to share prayers with other Logos users (maybe this is already available; since I don't use Logos' prayers, I don't remember if it's there).

I do fully agree with Mr. Simpson: prayermate is an absolute top-prayer app. The (highly customisable) prayer sessions Prayermate generates are well balanced selections of prayers from several prayer lists (family, job, church, mission, government, etc.). You have the possibility to share prayer lists with others. Prayermate also gives you the possibility to protect your prayers effectively from other uninvited people.
You can leave the organization to Prayermate and just start praying!
Besides using it on my iPhone and iPad, it works very well on my iMac too.
An integration of Prayermate into Logos would be fantastic.

I've sent an email to Logos customer support with a feature request to give the prayer list feature some love. I completely agree that it leaves much to be desired.

I will keep this thread updated if I hear anything. I anticipate that their reply will be something to the effect that Logos is for Bible study and thus this feature is somewhat out of scope. I can't say I disagree with that. On the other hand, I've already got a million other apps and subscriptions and am at the breaking point with considering yet another app. It would be nice, and, frankly not all that much effort to enhance this feature to make it closer to the competition.
