how do I organize notes by reference?

I have been adding notes, and yet my notes are showing Jn 1:3 before Jn 1:1. I tried to organize the notes by reference but it's grayed out.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
ps - When a word I pasted is not spelled correctly, Logos gives it a red squiggle (thank you!!!) but if I right click to see spelling options, the only options I am given are in German. My Logos is set to English, so does anyone have any ideas?

In the Notes tool filter bar, look for the section that's called "Reference". Choose "Bible" if looking to organize by Bible reference, then you will have the option to sort by reference.

Hi @Francis,
Thanks for your help. Tbh, it took me awhile to figure it out, since the first few times I clicked the reference it didn't do anything, but now it seems to have worked. I am not entirely sure what I was doing wrong before, and correct now.
In any case, now that I selected it, will it stay like this until I actively change the filter?

Hi @Francis,
I am actually kind of concerned, since it seems to ONLY be sorted by reference in that filter, but then after I am out of it it is sorted by modified date??? This seems to be a sort of odd default.
Maybe I will try to explain my goal. I am looking for my notes to run parallel with my bible text, but that is even remotely possible if the notes are displayed in order. I had tried linking the biblical text and my notes, that didn't work either. Is there a way to have the notes parallel with the Bible without being in a filter?

You can link two Bibles by setting them to the same link set. Notes do not have link set, so they cannot scroll as you scroll the Bible.

Hi @Jack Hairston,
Thank you very much. I will take a look at these docs.

Thank you, and ya, I have had to re-do a lot of notes in the past too, so I am for sure motivated to ask the correct questions now before I get to deep into this.

I made a product suggestion to add additional visualization options for notes (wide margin / inline) if anyone is interested: https://community.logos.com/discussion/248479/add-improved-visualizations-for-notes-inline-wide-margin-etc/p1?new=1

Hi @Jack Hairston,
Thank you again for those docs. I just finished reading them, and that was extremely helpful. Especially your pro tip about naming my notebooks something unique! That as extremely helpful, as I had already downloaded a few random notebooks and was already finding it confusing. So thank you for the tip! Also, I finally understand the point of the different colors, so I think I will incorporate that too so that I can see what is going on when a verse has 10 post-its.
On a related note, I have asked this before, but I am frankly still confused. Could you explain what the point of "anchors" are on notes? If I click a verse ref and create a note, the system auto sets that verse as an anchor. Further, if the note is relevant on more than one verse, I can set the other verse as an anchor also, which is super helpful.
However, sometimes I want to reference another verse but not have it show up at that other verse. I thus mentioned it, but did NOT set it as an anchor. Yet it showed up both places anyway. All of that to say, if just mentioning a verse will cause it to show up at both verses, what is the point of adding verses as anchors if just mentioning the verse does the same thing?

Hello, Kristin:
»However, sometimes I want to reference another verse but not have it show up at that other verse. I thus mentioned it, but did NOT set it as an anchor. Yet it showed up both places anyway.«
Could you a screenshot of a Note that has both a "mention" and "anchor?

No. :) Ok, so after your question I went looking for that note but couldn't find it where I thought it was. So then I created a new note anchored to one verse and mentioning another, then I went to the other verse and it did not have a note…. so….
Apparently Logos' anchor system DOES make sense after all, and when I had seen that note in more than one place I must have created an anchor by mistake. Thank you for clarifying this, and I am relieved that I had made this mistake.
