iOS share no longer provides reference link

After the recent update of the iOS app to 40.0.0 (184), Share only provides plain text (no URL). The URL is very important to my note taking. I take notes outside the app in Markdown and have written a script for Pythonista that takes the plain text and the URL and combines them to produce a Markdown quotation with a link to the source. This is no longer works, and I can't fix it because the app no longer shares a URL. I also sometimes used Bear's share functionality to copy just the URL. Please fix this problem: have the app share the URL in addition to plain text.

This is still a problem in 40.1.0 (iPadOS 18.3.1).

@J.C. Russo This should now work as expected in version 41.

Thank you for trying to resolve this problem, but I'm still not seeing any link. "About" says I have Verbum 40.0.0 (56), but neither Bear, nor Scriptable, nor Pythonista see any URL shared, just plain text. This is on iPadOS 18.4. This is what I'm doing: I select some text, often starting with a double tap, and then tap the Share button in the popup. I also tried iOS 18.4 (also running Verbum 40.0.0 [56]) with the same results: neither Bear nor Pythonista sees a URL shared, just plain text.

I meant 41.0.0 (56), not 40.0.0 (56). This is the version "About" shows on my iPadOS and iOS devices.

@J.C. Russo We are having difficulty reproducing the behavior that you report.

I would appreciate it very much if you could confirm what options are currently selected for the Citations setting.

Please also give examples of two or three books that you have used unsuccessfully for this type of sharing.

My citation settings are the defaults:

    • Copy Citations: on
    • Use short format for Bibles: on
    • Hyperlink copied citations: on
    • Style: Chicago Manual of Style

The sharing problem occurs with everything I've tried. To have some examples that wil be easy to reproduce, let's use some popular resources in the Passage Guide for John 3:16:

    • Faithlife Study Bible: double-tap the sentence "This verse presents a concise summary of the gospel message, tying the events of Jesus’ death to God’s love for the world He created." Tap the Share icon (Sentence is selected rather than Word). Select Bear (you don't need a subscription to use their share extension). There is only plain text, no link. Or use Scriptable, which comes with a sample "What Is Shared?" script.
    • JFB's Commentary Critical and Explanatory: Again, double-tap the first sentence of the commentary on John 3:16 to select it: "For God so loved, &c.—What proclamation of the Gospel has been so oft on the lips of missionaries and preachers in every age since it was first uttered?" Tap Share. Tap Bear. No URL.
    • NICNT (Michaels 1998): Double-tap the first sentence of the commentary to select it: "16 Here the same question arises as in verse 13." Tap Share. Tap Bear. No URL.

Now, If I use the Copy icon instead of the Share icon, the text does still contain a hyperlink, as it did in version 40 and before. But before version 40, I got both plain text and a URL from Share, and now I only get plain text.

Since you say you can't reproduce this behavior, I also installed the Logos Bible app on my iPad and logged in. It also reports version 41.0.0 (56) and has the same citation settings as above and the same behavior. This is a fresh install without changing any settings (unless some change is implicit in logging in).
