how can I export a sermon on a Mac?

I am watching a YouTube video about Sermon Builder (which I have been finding helpful), and at one point the guy exported his sermon to Word. When he did, Logos not only copied the sermon there, but preserved formatting and attached a little export date.

However, if I click export I don't have a "new document" option. Yes, I am on a Mac, but a lot of Mac users use Logos, so is there a way to export it to Pages?

Are you clicking the Export button in the bar at the top of the sermon?

    Hi @Graham Criddle,

Yes, in Sermon Builder up on the top right I am clicking Export, which brings up a little window. Then I click Print /Export which brings up that little box. I can also paste a screenshot just to make sure I am on the right screen.

    Thanks

It is the first screen you get to (the one after clicking Export) that gives you the “best” options for exporting. But i do seem to remember exporting to Keynote isn’t available - I forget why.

What happens if you export to PowerPoint and then import that into Pages?

    Hi @Graham Criddle,

I just got out of a class so I tried that, and while it did successfully create a PowerPoint which I could open in Keynote, Keynote will only let me export the slides to a PDF or an actual PowerPoint presentation. Apart from the fact that I can't export it to Pages, the formatting is totally demolished since it has been converted into a slideshow.

I’m not clear what you are trying to do. Export to PowerPoint does create a slideshow. What are you hoping for it to do?

    Hi @Graham Criddle,

Someone on another thread pointed me to a YouTube video, and at this min mark he exports his sermon to Word. This not only preserved the format, but it also created an export timestamp, and since it is a document, it is still able to be edited further.

So when I saw this, I tried to export my Test sermon, as the format he showed would work perfect for my backup system. So I guess as far as what I am trying to do, I am trying to backup the sermon work I am doing in my normal docs, not just within Logos (been there, done that in Accordance), so it is pretty important to me that I can export stuff in a way which is preserving formatting, but in an editable format (i.e, not a PDF).

    Hi @Kristin

What happens if you select the Safe as File → Rich Text Format option?

    Hi @Graham Criddle,

I am sorry for the delay in response, its just been one of those kind of days. Anyway, I think that will work fine. I had actually first tried doing that before, but I had just done it on a test sermon, and it was so ugly in TextEdit that I had actually thought it was stripping formatting. However, I just tried it again with one of my real sermons, and I see that even in TextEdit it was preserving the bold font and blue hyperlinks, so it will work fine. :)

Since all I want in life is to be able to export my work, this works well and I will just leave it in this rtf format. However, I just tried copying it from TextEdit to Pages, and that worked well also. :) So I am super happy about such an easy export function!! Accordance has a simple import function, so I had been literally creating notes for years before I tried to export it and realized I couldn't. After that, it took me years to export it all by hand, which was not only time consuming but gave me carpel tunnel. So now before I create anything further, I figured I better make sure I can export things, and I am grateful to see that I can. Thank you for your help!
