How to filter Notes with Tags: "Gods goal-..." but are not in the Notebook "Gods goal"

Hi everyone,

The Title is confusing, so let me explain.

I've recently created a Notebook named "Gods goal" to pull all my prior Notes on Gods goal. This is because I want to do a more through study on this Topic.

These Notes I've made in the past on God's goal can be identified easily because, within the Note, I use Tags with names starting "Gods goal-….".  But these Notes on Gods goal are spread across many different Notebooks. For example, one Note could have 2 tags, one for Gods attributes and one for Gods goal. Since I had not started a Notebook on God's goal, I would have put that Note into a Notebook titled "Gods attributes." Another Note could have 2 tags, one for Salvation and one for Gods goal. Since I had not started a Notebook on God's goal, I would have put that Note in a Notebook title "Salvation". You get the picture, I hope.

How do I easily identify the Notes with Tags with names starting "Gods goal-…"? I don't want to go Notebook by Notebook as that would be super tedious given that I have about 50 Notebooks.

Any help here would be super appreciated.

Thank you

If you open Notes, make sure the left panel is visible. There are two main options in the left panel: Filter & Notebooks. Select filter, click on the magnifying glass, and type in your tag. The result (on the right of the open panel) will be ALL your notes with that tag, regardless of what notebooks they are in. If you select some or all of them, you will have the option to set the Notebook for the selected notes.

You need to be aware that, if some of these notes are already in another notebook, your selecting a new notebook for them will move the notes out of their original notebook into the new notebook.

BTW, my personal practice is to not use notebooks and to rely solely on tags. I have not run into any problems with that approach, but this may not work for all.

    Thank you Joseph.

    1. For my purpose, just using Tags is not sufficient. Once I have a Notebook, I order the Notes in a way that makes sense to me. Without organizing content, I cannot absorb content. God made me that way unfortunately. Thus, using Notebooks helps me organize.
    2. When I use the filter, it shows up all the Notes with the Tag starting with "Gods goal-…", even those that I have already assigned to "Gods goal" Notebook. So a lot of unnecessary clicking to find out that I've already done the job of moving some of those Notes.
    3. Let's say I take a break. Even if I had assigned a Note to a Notebook, it still shows up when I use the filter again after I come back from the break. Thus, I have to go through all over again to see which ones have to be assigned. But I can't do it all in one sitting without a break because of next point.
    4. Many times, the Notes attached to a verse have multiple tags relating to multiple topics. When I make a Notebook, I create multiple Notes out of the single Note, one for each Topic so I can assign the appropriate Note to the corresponding Notebook.

Bottom line: I would like a simple way to identify Notes with Tags starting with "Gods goal-" BUT is not already in the Notebook "Gods goal".

    Thank you.
