I would like to add a note (not an entire notebook) to a favorites folder. I can add a notebook to favorites by clicking the star icon but I just want a specific note within that notebook, not the whole notebook. Is there a way to do that?
Drag and drop the tab of the note into the favorites folder.
Thanks, Aaron, for the reply. Still not quite what I'm looking for. As an example, I have a "notebook" called "Studies in Mark" which has a tab that I can drag to Favorites. But within that notebook, I have 15 individual "notes", one of them being "Mark 4 Parables"… it's that one NOTE that I want to drag into favorites, not the entire notebook with all 15 notes. Those individual notes don't have a tab to drag.
Any help appreciated…
Don,
It is true that notes are within the notes tool and cannot be removed from it. So if you create a shortcut to one particular note, clicking on that note's shortcut will open the entire notes tool, along with the notebook that the note is within, if applicable. That said, the shortcut is truly a shortcut to the specific note, not just the notebook. Regardless of where one navigates after opening the notes tool, that shortcut will link to the specific note every time it is clicked.
If you would prefer not to open the notes tool, you could copy the note's contents into Canvas and save a shortcut to that Canvas document
Don! I too would like to Favorite individual Notes within a Notebook (just like a you). As a workaround, I use the "Key" Icon for Notes that I like to Favorite so that when I scan all the Notes in a Notebook, I know the most important ones. If I am not lazy, I drag these Favorite Notes to the top of the Notebook.
Thanks 1Cor,
Thanks, that's a great idea! I actually came up with another workaround. Routinely from day 1, I've added one or more unique search terms at the bottom of every note I create… in this case "parables of Jesus". Then, I can search for any note containing "parables of Jesus". That search reveals all notebooks containing that term and ONLY the individual notes within those notebooks. Then, I save the search result to favorites. So when I want to find all notes that contain the phrase "parables of Jesus", I click parables of Jesus in favorites, and there they are… just those notes and the notebook where they reside.
That might be tough for most users because they probably didn't put that search term in there to begin with like I did, and it would be a hassle to go back and add them. But if you have the time to do that, it might work pretty well. The problem is that If I ever create another note with parables, I have to re-run the search and add it again to favorites.
I really wish Logos would add favorite capabilities to notes… that would be so nice.
Hey! Could you help me understand why the current method of adding individual notes to favorites is insufficient? I've tried to understand the problem, but am having difficulty. This is my 3-step process:
1) Open the note
2) Drag the note's tab into a folder within the favorite's tool
3) Rename the shortcut to be easily identifiable

@Don Beard another option would be to add this unique term as a tag at the bottom of the note. In this case, you could use the built-in Filters.
A shortcut could also be added by opening the notes tool, selecting the appropriate tag under the Tags filter, and dragging the tab into the Favorites tool. The advantage with this strategy is that the shortcut would never need to be updated. It would automatically include all new notes that are given that tag.
Aaron! I completely agree that I can favorite a specific note in the Favorites folder if I do what you are suggesting. I thought that Don wanted the ability to Favorite a Note within a Notebook, but stay within the Notes tool and not go to a Favorites folder. My suggestion was a workaround for what I thought Don wanted. And I could be reading him completely wrong.
Thanks all but my head is spinning. I've never used tags and I don't see an icon anywhere that could be a key — but all of that seems more complicated than what I'm already doing… and I don't really do it that often. I guess I'm hoping that someone from Logos monitors these conversations and would just make a note drag and drop into a favorites folder.
But… I'll keep trying.
Thanks again… DB
No worries! Tags can be added at the bottom of every note. In the filter panel on the left side, you can filter by tags once you have added them. Just type the tag in the box (outlined below) and hit enter.

You can drag and drop individual notes into a favorites folder. This is possible by following these three steps:
1) Open an individual note
2) Drag the tab that you are using to view that note into a folder in the favorite's tool. This creates a shortcut of the notes tool that will always open the note that was open when the shortcut was made.
3) Rename the shortcut to resemble the individual note you had open
Many ways to skin a cat I guess… I'll put in a plug for using Search….
I think "Tags" are a great feature with Notes. I use them religiously. Every one of my Notes has one to many tags. Because of that I can use the Search feature, "Docs" (by type not title) and type in "mytag:repent" (no quotes) and show all my Notes where I've tagged them with repent. Works like a charm. But one has to "tag" their Notes. I normally have many "tags" on a Note as many bible passages can refer to more than one thing.
I do suggest that if you haven't been tagging your Notes, take time and go through your Notes and tag each one of them.
I've not used Favorites, in regard to Notes, never thought about it. I do find the conversation about it interesting. But loading up Favorites to me is about like loading up Search and with Search all I have to do is remember to go to "Docs" and "mytag:" (no quotes). And sometimes in some of my layouts, I have Search open already…
Logos Search has come a long way from when I first came from WordSearch, thanks mainly to Mark Barnes and crew. 😎
Hello. The Logos Research Commentary on Hebrews is a pre-pub, that has moved status to "In Production." Does anyone know the timeframe until release?
@Rick Mansfield (Logos) Good Morning Rick Might I be able to inquire from you the status of these videos that have been in PrePub since 2023? There are French versions already available but not English versions. English Product: French Product: I'll also direct you to a related idea here if you can make that happen:
When I try to add a public notebook to my Logos Documents, it says adding to your library and then disappears with no notebook added. Trying to add the notebook at this link. I'm really struggling with the most recent updates, heavy impacts on my workflow and functionality of the software.
I bought LOGOS some years ago. about $369. I have not used it in a while since it is waaay more complex than the Quickverse I loved. Now, I log in and no longer seem to have access to my extensive library or anything else I purchase. Did they take it all back for the sake of subscriptions??
