Logos not using the Bible set up as the Target Bible for Hyperlinks

In the two-panel layout below, the NIV Bible in the right panel (outlined in red) is set up to be the Bible target for scripture reference links. But when opening the layout and selecting a scripture link from one of the commentaries (first three tabs in the panel), Logos always jumps to the left panel and opens the NIV 84 (outlined in blue). And this behavior will continue until I manually select/open the NIV tab in the right panel.

Once I've selected/opened the NIV tab in the right panel, will then start using it as the target for scripture links as it should, but not until then. I don't recall ever encountering this behavior before. So, unless my memory is failing, or something was intentionally changed in Logos, I'm guessing this is a bug.

Anyone else experienced this behavior?

I encountered similar behavior before but have not bothered to investigate whether there is an explanation to it.

I think I have an explanation since I've been able to reproduce.

When opening a layout, until you specifically click on that NIV tab it will be present but inactive. I think Logos isn't loading any tabs when opening a layout until you specifically click on it - thus hyperlinking will fail as the NIV hasn't been properly loaded.

In short, when opening your layout, click on the NIV tab to load it up and then hyperlinking will work.

Yes…I've battled it several times but never dug in to try to figure it out. Just another of a thousand-odd bugs in Logos.

Yes, I experience this as well.

As Morgan stated if upon opening any layout that has a tab with (send hyperlinks here) click on that tab first and it will work as expected.

I believe that this is the same for a search tab with (send searches here).

Hope they fix it one day.

I'm on Mac—wonder if Windows has this issue?

Thank you everyone for the feedback and explanations. Just for kicks, I made the target bible the active tab before closing Logos, and switched to a commentary after restarting Logos. Sure enough, the target bible then worked properly from the get-go.

I'm glad it's not a quirk in my layout or with my install of Logos. I understand (and appreciate) Faithlife's effort to speed up loading, but if it's going to work that way, I do think the first selection of a scripture passage link in any layout with a target bible set up, should load the target bible resource and activate the tab for it. I hope Faithlife can make that happen, because the way it works now, there's no clue for the user as to why the target bible is not the bible tab activated when selecting a scripture link.
