Bad email marketing

I've noticed in recent Verbum-branded emails that I've been receiving, that they have been filled with Reformed and explicitly Protestant products. Who has been sending these? It makes me wonder: does Logos even have a Verbum department anymore, or has it all been handed over to the main product line? Or worse… is AI handling their email marketing? 😂
I have to ask this, because you know the relationship doesn't go the opposite direction. If Logos were sending explicitly Catholic products to Reformed audiences, there would be riots and destruction in the streets! 😅

"…does Logos even have a Verbum department anymore…"
Great question and one I have been wondering about myself. I would like to know the answer just so I know who I am dealing with.

Not sure about riots, but I'm sure you were making a point. Yeah, I would not be happy about that.
Our Catholic friends should only be getting Catholic products marketed toward them, unless they have asked differently.
Sounds super annoying for you!

"Our Catholic friends should only be getting Catholic products"
Actually I think the line is a little more malleable than that. For example, I would love to be notified when Anchor Yale Bible products are on sale, and I don't think those would be out-of-place in a Verbum-branded email, provided there were other contents in that email that ground the brand's "Catholicity". My complaint is more that in the past several Verbum-branded emails I've received, there hasn't been a single Catholic book or publisher included in the products. In fact, the contents of those emails have been indistinguishable from Logos-branded emails. When I subscribed to Verbum emails, I expected something different from Logos-branded emails—Verbum should have specific content, just like Reformed-branded emails would have more specific content.

Good suggestion. I subscribe to both because I like reading Catholic books more than most Protestants do, but when it's the same kinds of Reformed commentaries and John MacArthur books you see in the Logos email, it makes the Verbum one seem sort of pointless.

There were some negative reactions when Reformed audiences got the email "Remembering Pope Francis"

I wonder… would AI go into an infinite loop of "thinking" on certain subjects of "what then…" "…but then" forever without the limitation of processing resources.
That said a lot of "unfinished" thoughts processing produced by an AI. 🤔
