Ugaritic - can someone help me understand what I own?

Hi everyone, I am just getting super confused about what I own. I own this and I am reading the Baal Cycle. Yet I see that Logos sells the Baal Cycle, which I don't own.

Is the thing I own, and the thing I don't own, functionally duplicates? Or what's the difference between the two?

Thanks for any clarity anyone is able to provide.

As above, Baal Cycle is a specific text and commentary by Mark Smith (who has other volumes in Logos). What you have is raw text with translation. Here's a page of Baal Cycle with apparatus, followed by a page of commentary below:

If you open the information panel of the resource you are reading, it will show you the source of the text which is likely included in the 12 volume collection..

Hi @MJ. Smith, ya, I did that, which is what provoked the post. Thanks, but I am hoping that someone familiar with the material is able to confirm if my suspicion is correct that they are duplicates.

The other easy way, is to put one resource as lead, in a MultiView panel. And then see the other resources that match up in your library, especially the translations. Baal Cycle is a subset of the Ugarit Data Bank texts but adds commentary, etc. It all depends on what perspective you're needing. Canaanite Myths has similar overlaps.

Hi @DMB, ya, I have the transliterated Ug and English translation, as well as some other random things. I don't seem to be missing anything. Yet then I go to the Logos website and see that resource they are selling, and Logos is saying I don't own it. Yet the thing I don't own is just the Baal Cycle, right? Which I obviously have. So it is a duplicate?

Very unlikely. It is probably a duplicate base text with different editors. But without the citation information on the version you are actually reading, I can't give you a precise answer.

Oh! Ok, I see now. :) That makes much more sense! It also thankfully confirms I do have what I need, as I need the raw text. I had been worried I might be missing something "raw." So I am glad I am not. :) Thanks for the screenshots.

As MJ has noted before, Text Comparison can also be used for looking at the texts themselves. And Logos will automatically go out and find matching references without having to list them yourself.

Hi @DMB, text comparison only works for what I own though, right? So if I am trying to compare what I own vs something I don't own, that wouldn't work here. Or is that not the case?
