Tags in notes are not naturally alphabetical??

I have a question about tagging notes. I have A LOT of notes, and so I recently started looking into the idea of tags pretty seriously, and was starting to think that they would help with organization.

However, after creating a lot of them I realized just like how notes are not naturally organized by reference, I see that the tags are NOT organized alphabetically??

So if I have a few hundred notes, they will all just be grouped in created order, so if I was working Lk 1, then the Baal Cycle, then Lk 1 again, the tags will be organized as such? And even if I go through the multi-step process of filtering (which I don't want to do, if I want to look at the tag of "salvation" in ALL my books, there is no way to organize tags functionally without filtering out half of what I am looking for.

Is this correct? I hope I am missing something.

Personally, I appreciate how tags are currently organized. Organizing tags alphabetically would be more inconvenient for me. Tags are not organized in created order. They are organized by number of occurrences. So the tags one uses most often will be found near the top of the list, while those rarely used will be found near the bottom.

That said, the quickest way to find a tag is to use search in the filters sidebar.

Thank you for explaining this! While I do wish alphabetical was an option, I am grateful to hear that it is at least not by date created (like the note chaos). Frequency of occurrences at least has some logic to it, so that is a relief!

That said, can you clarify how you are able to search for a tag? If I search for a specific word it seems to find both tags matching it as well as random notes which do not have the tag.

On a side note, the way notes are not organized by reference is a huge issue, as neither date created or date modified makes a lick of sense for my specific use of notes. That said, its default is "By Notebook." How is that even a sort along with "Created" and "Modified"? Could you clarify what this even means within a specific notebook?

This screenshot shows the filter sidebar of the notes tool. If you click the search icon while Filters is displayed, it will only search through your filters. Your tags will be listed among those filters. True, a search may yield results for multiple filters. But looking through this smaller list will be quicker than scrolling through the entire list of tags.

Hi @Aaron Hamilton, thanks for the screenshot, I just tried it and that worked. :) I had been using that larger search thing above it.
