Is there way to define a search in Logos that will allow you to count the number of occurrences where a certain word begins a sentence or a verse?
Not that I can think of - sorry @Jack Timothy Steffey
Although words at the beginning of a sentence or verse would typically have a capital letter. So you could capitalise your search term and ensure case matching is enabled. It wouldn't be perfect, there could be some false positives, but might give you something.
The search on the left has Match case enabled (small Aa icon at top right of the search panel) while the one on the right does not
Similar searches run against the original language not the English surface text. Given that the Greek sentence markers are 6th-9th century additions and the Hebrew sentence markers are 7th-10th century additions, I would need to know that you wish to use the search data for before I could suggest a search that would meet your needs.
Thanks for responding. I looking at all the uses of καί in the Gospel of Mark and was curious if there was a way Logos could total the number of verses that begin with it.

I have been eagerly awaiting the release of my pre-pub order of Exalting Jesus in Numbers (Christ-Centered Exposition Commentary | CCE) and I saw that it was supposed to be today 04/15/26. I refreshed my pre-pub orders page but now it doesn’t have a date of when I can expect it. Has it been pushed back? To when?
I am an older seminary student and I am having difficulty keeping up with my reading assignments. It is about 200 pages a week in addition to discussion boards, short papers and lecture material. Bible reading is awesome, it is the textbooks that I am having difficulty with. Is there anything on Logos that can help me with…
Ezk 28:11[specifically]12B-19, the lament over the ruler of Tyre, has been described as “one of the more difficult passages in the Book of Ezekiel—if not in the whole Bible! “ Ralph H. Alexander, “Ezekiel,” ExBC 6, 882. And within that lament is some dispute as to the meaning of “covering” in 28.13; but there is seeming…
I remember years ago seeing the syntax where I could find all the commentaries that discussed certain passages together. I want to see all Bible commentaries that mention Matthew 24 and I Thessalonians 4 together where they discuss how the Parousia in Mt relates to the one in Paul. I forgot the syntax. I asked the Study…
I love the study assistant and use it to ask theological and scripture debates and inquiries. Thank you for this tool, it is sharpening me. Unfortunately, I use it so much that I feel she needs a name😂. My study assistant has been declared female, now I need to have the ability to give her a name so I can address her by…
