Does anyone use the Window's virtual desktop/ Mac's spaces feature for Logos?

I was wondering for documentation purposes does anyone use the Windows's virtual desktop feature - for example, run Logos and Verbum on different desktops? or run Logos and their thesis software and their browser on separate desktops? If so, how do your use it? Run into any problems?

Mac here (sorry) and my only issue is accidentally dragging a Verbum window onto another desktop. Then, he's mia for the desktop choose-windows view.

Yes, that's a bit confusing .. Apple even combines the words .. spaces desktops!

In honor of our good friend Matthew at the close of 2025, his Amiga 1000 was first to do multiple desktops.

Ok … cheating again. I might add, Accordance's multiple desktops, make it easy to mix and match with Logos on a Mac custom space/desktop. Sometimes, I have my Logos OT window with Peshitta, but also want my Accordance morph'd Peshitta OT group in view (a desktop in Accordance).

I keep my Bible apps on separate spaces/desktops.

@MJ. Smith I run Verbum full screen in its own Mac spaces. I usually have 3 spaces up on my 15" laptop - a Parallels VM I run some Windows-only stuff in, Verbum, and everything else. It's easy to move between them, 3 finger swipe on the trackpad (don't use a mouse). I run Verbum that way so I can keep it full screen and it's not in the way of other stuff.

After several years of light macOS use I have recently had to learn how to do things efficiently.

During my Windows years, my desktop was a 3 monitor setup. This worked pretty well. On Windows you had keyboard shortcuts (Windows + arrow) which would zip your currently selected window around, and onto the next monitor if that is the way you went.

macOS strangely did not have these features built-in. (Microsoft had a patent on it, which expired. Now (since sequoia?) macOS has it too. But the macOS keyboard shortcut required a 3 key combination (including the globe key, which only genuine apple keyboard have). There are third party apps, some of them free.

Problem is, you can carefully arrange all your windows on the screen(s), and Windows or macOS upon shutdown forgets it all. So you get to start over again after the next startup. macOS does give you the option to save and restore everything when you shutdown. That is a simple feature that might work for some people.

Spaces feature (used to be called Mission Control?) in macOS is amazing. You can create up to 16 virtual desktops, with any arrangement of windows on it you like. Then swap quickly between them with keystrokes (control + arrow left or right). Or three finger swipes on trackpad as Don already mentioned.

What makes this more convenient is that any window or program you make full-screen automatically is assigned its own space, so you can zip back and forth easily.

I am attempting the transition to a single large monitor now, rather than the multiple monitor setup I used to use with Windows. I have looked at many of the different third party apps for window placement on macOS. One of them that has a lot of potential is Moom. This one can save and restore all your windows layouts. I have not actually tried it yet, just watched demo's. There are also free apps which allow a bunch more hotkeys for different stuff, but I'm more interested in automating the startup process than memorizing a bunch of hotkeys.

Back to your Windows question, I dumped Windows when W8 came out, and Windows virtual desktops were introduced in W10. Since I still run Windows 7 on my Windows machine, I have no firsthand experience. But Microsoft clearly ripped the idea from Apple.

So my advice is kinda the same for macOS or Windows. Spaces (virtual desktops) allows you to easily work with multiple full screen layouts / programs with a single monitor. A multi-monitor setup, which I used to prefer, benefits less from it. Not to say there would not be use-cases even on a multiple monitor setup.

So if you do go the virtual desktop direction on Windows, the first things I would look into: can you quickly restore your Window setups without having to recreate them after each boot? Does Logos allow its floating windows to be restored like this? If all you are wanting to do is run verbum and logos as full screen programs, and switch between them easily, that's a no-brainer on Windows, and you don't even need virtual desktops. Just switch between them with (ALT-TAB).
