Bet that got your attention🥴! In Stanley Porter’s recently released exegetical commentary on the Pastoral Letters he references an author named Preston T. Massey that I’m unfamiliar with. I cannot find the actual source of Porter’s reference when he’s dealing with the braided hair prohibition in I Timothy 2.9 (he seems to argue against the literal braiding of hair quite strongly but, again, I cannot locate this reference to Massey).
Here’s a screenshot of Porter’s hyperlink notation for ease of reference (I sure hope I’m not violating any rules by posting this pic.):
*Does anyone know what article, paper or book Porter’s referring to in this notation-reference to Massey above? If so, would you mind pls. pasting a link to this work when you get an opportunity? I’d really like to chase down this reference just to ensure that I’m trekking with Dr. Porter accurately.
Thank you for your time!
