Flashing Circle on verse number

I'm probably just a grumpy old guy who is annoyed by things that others really like, HOWEVER. . . Whenever I go to a different Bible Version/Tab a little red circle flashes on the first verse number in that window. I find it annoying and would like to disable it, but I have looked through a host of menus and have not found a way to turn it off. Suggestions????

Is there a way to increase the number of highlight options in the web app? I use different colored highlights for draw attention to different kinds of details, but note that in the web app, there are limited highlight options.
