Yes - we can Float a panel and then move that panel to another monitor as desired.
After you get your new windows opened you can create a saved layout so that you wont need to go through that process again. I have a layout for single screen and another for when I have multiple screens.
If you want flexibility to move a window back and forth between monitors easily, Display Fusion is a good program. It works with any windows, not just Logos. I think there is a free version, though the paid version is not expensive and is one time forever, so I use it.
Absolutely. I run variations of Apple laptop, laptop+ external monitor (24" in portrait), laptop+iPad as external monitor, laptop+ 2x32" 4k monitors, clamshell laptop+ 2x32 external monitors. Never had any problems.
Right click on any tab and look for the option to float that window. You can then move to another monitor.
On a Mac, Cmd-Opt-F will float a panel. Don't know the Windows equivalent .

Just discovered this thread, and it's a game changer! The one challenge I am facing is saving a layout to use again. I save it, but when I select that layout again, it does not open the floating windows on the 2nd monitor where I had placed them. @Dale Lundy does Display Fusion allow that to happen automatically when a Layout is opened??
Detach the window with the tool you need and move it over to the secondary screen. Works for me.
I am able to float the window and move it to a secondary screen, but what I would like is when I open a layout, if I saved that layout across multiple screens, to restore the window positions when I saved the layout. When I did this for a reading plan for example, and put several tools in a window on a secondary screen, then closed everything and reopened the layout, the floating window was a 2nd window on the primary screen. Would be a lot more convenient if it opened and restored the window positions I had previously used. If not, perhaps Display Fusion, or another product can handle that even if it's with a keyboard shortcut.
For me, windows always open on the screen they occupied when I saved the layout. Did you save the layout after placing the windows on the desired screen?
Yea, I created it the way I wanted, saved it, and even did it again, and updated according to current snapshot.
No. I have the same problem you do. DisplayFusion however does facilitate moving windows easily. Ctrl + Win + X (or clicking on the icon in the header) moves the window you are in to the next monitor. Ctrl + Win + A moves the window to the next monitor and maximizes it. Ctrl + Win + Z moves the window to the next monitor and sizes it proportionately. Ctrl + Win + W moves the Window to the previous monitor.
I spent almost 2 hours on CoPilot this morning. It first told me it was a DisplayFusion Problem. When that didn't fix it, it told me it was a Logos Problem. When that didn't fix it, it told me it was a Windows problem. That didn't fix it either, though from what I saw I am inclined to believe it is a Windows problem. At this point I was wasting more time trying to solve the problem than I would ever save. It's frustrating. If anyone does solve the problem, I'd love to hear it.
Why do you need DisplayFusion—or any other external utility—to move Logos windows? They can be moved quite easily in Logos. Perhaps this is the cause of your problem. You moved the windows by some means other than Logos, so Logos does not know where you placed them. Try moving windows in Logos, then save the layout. I have never had a problem with windows not behaving as I place them, and I have been using Logos for over twenty years.
I missed that DisplayFusion is a Windows tool, and I am on MacOS. @Jack Caviness my problem is that I create the layout, save it, and Logos for MacOS does not open the Logos windows on the same screen that they were in when I open the layout again. Instead, they open in whatever screen the primary Logos window is in. The items that are in the layout are correct, but the monitor that each window is on is not preserved, and it opens the floating window on the same monitor as the primary logos screen. I can move it manually again, but every time I load the Layout, I need to manually move the window. I did find a piece of software that allows me to get the behavior I want. Rectangle Pro. I can have any 2nd window opened by Logos move to a specific location if the window title matches a specific phrase or regex. It's a little bit difficult to get too vague because a lot of the windowing within the main window matches, so right now I have it matching a specific window name for a Bible Study I'm in and it's working great.
Are you using the Update Active command under Layouts—(Cntrl-Opt-Cmd-L)?
I love spreading Logos out on multiple monitors. I also use multiple virtual desktops so I can switch between different projects or work modes (ie. message prep vs communications)
The biggest frustration I had was that I use Logos in both situations and it meant I had to move the main window between virtual desktops. Not a huge deal but introduces a little more friction to the process. However, I recently discovered with virtual desktops (FYI, I'm just using the standard windows virtual desktop function) I can set a window to display on all desktops.
What this means is I can have the main Logos window (with menu links, etc) that is shared between the two desktops, where as the additional windows stay on the desktop I created them in. Has smoothed out my transitions significantly.
