I was doing a Word study on 'defile' in Daniel 1:8. My preferred Bible is ESV. There are seven uses of 'defile' or g'l in Hebrew transliteration. My list shows Lamentations 4:14, Zephaniah 3:1 and Malachi 1:7,12 in addition to Daniel. However my open ESV bible uses the term 'polluted' in Malachi 1. Intrigued I switched to the Hebrew tm' and the verse list again shows 'defiled' but looking at Leviticus 18:24 I see the term 'unclean.'
How is this happening since the Word study verse list is supposed to be ESV?
